Revenue from auto part imports is expected to reach VND300 billion

According to statistics from Quang Tri Customs Department, as of February 18, the total State budget revenue of the Department reached VND43.8 billion. Revenue from the exports of wood chips and minerals and the imports of wood, natural rubber, imported plaster, machinery, equipment and auto parts havecontributed greatly to the department’s revenue.

Revenue decreased by 55.18 percent compared to 2019, because the revenue from machinery and equipment creating fixed assets fell by 99.8 percent, equivalent to VND70.92 billion (because most projects were imported in 2019). Revenue from wood chips decreased 56.82 percent, from minerals decreased 42.51 percent.

Deputy Director of Quang Tri Customs Department Dinh Ngoc Thanh said the revenue from minerals decreased because the exports to China were affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. On the other hand, most of the wood chip volume exported to Laos to supply paper mills has not yet operated fully due to Chinese workers still unable to return to work.

However, since Septembers 2019, the first shipments of auto parts imported by Vinfast at Lao Bao International Border Gate brought sustainable revenue in the following months. Specifically, revenue from auto part imports contributed VND53.6 billion to the State budget, accounting for 11.2 percent of the total revenue of Quang Tri Customs Department.

Although the imports were interrupted during the Lunar New Year and suffered from the Covid-19 epidemic, the revenue from imported auto parts was more than VND8 billion.

“It is expected that revenue from imported auto parts will contribute from VND800 million to 1 billion to the State budget per day, equivalent to more than VND 300 billion per year,”Thanh said.

To attract more businesses to carry out procedures at Quang Tri Customs, Thanh said the department regularly pays attention, supports, facilitates and removes difficulties for businesses that have stable revenues. In addition, the department also makes great efforts to implement solutions to reform administrative procedures, creating a clear business and investment environment. Notably, from the beginning of the year, the department has effectively and professionally deployed Customs-Business partnerships, thereby, it has actively met and discussed with businesses withinvestment and business plans in Quang Tri province.

Reduce administrative burden for businesses

According to Thanh, to increase State revenue, the department continues to accelerate administrative procedure reforms and apply information technology and systems to support businesses and customs authorities.

In the plan on controlling administrative procedures in 2020, Quang Tri Customs Department said this task is a regular work and focuses on simplifying and facilitating import and export activities, reducing the administrative burden for individuals, organizations and businesses.
