According to Quang Ninh Customs, trade fraud through the origin of imported goods is increasing, whereby goods were produced in China but used Vietnam’s origin to deceive domestic consumers. The items were mainly electronic products, shoes, clothes and cosmetics.
Goods were produced and imported from China to Vietnam but the goods labels had "Made in Vietnam", bar codes and addresses of manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam. The imported goods were ordered and imported by Vietnamese traders.
Facing this situation, Quang Ninh Customs requested units to strengthen inspection and determine the origin and labels of imported goods in accordance with regulations.
Along with that, they were told they should be promoting information collection, grasping the situation of the local areas, objects and methods of the object; synchronously and effectively applying professional measures, strengthening patrol and control in customs operation areas; coordinating closely with related competent forces to promptly fight and prevent acts of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods in general and counterfeited goods of "Made in Vietnam" labels in particular via land and sea border areas.
At the same time, they should urge organisations and individuals not to import goods which were produced or ordered goods from foreign countries labeled "Made in Vietnam" for trading and tell people not to trade or use goods with counterfeited origin.
