HCM City Customs Department’s officers destroy hundreds of scrap containers. |
According to the city’s customs department, in order to help the Council handling backlogged goods as a basis to identify the exact status of the goods, the city’s department has verified and classified goods for 538 containers.
These congested goods at Cat Lai Port are inspected and classified by the department.
Goods in the containers include used machinery and equipment, household goods, general goods, pharmaceuticals, machinery parts, scrap, chemicals, slats and fiber optic cables.
Recently, the department has expedited the handling of goods backlogged at seaports and airports.
Accordingly, over 350 containers of imported scrap that are ineligible for import and do not meet national environmental standards have been destroyed by the 1St Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch since the end of March.
