Lang Son Finance, Tax and Customs agencies needs to proactively capture information to develop the border gate economy

The report of the Lang Son Department of Finance shows that, from the beginning of the year, the unit has focused on implementing key tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee on management of budget collection and spending.

Accordingly, in the first quarter, total state budget revenue in Lang Son province is estimated at nearly VND1,900 billion, reaching 25.3% of the estimate, up 12.6% year-on-year.

Of which, domestic revenue was VND645 billion, reaching 26% of the estimate, up by 3.5% year-on-year; revenue from import-export activities was estimated at VND1,250 billion, up 18.1% year-on-year.

The public investment plans and disbursement of public investment capital have been implemented drastically and proactively.

Other areas such as price management; public property; inspections have been carried out according to plan.

According to a report from Lang Son Customs Department, from the beginning of the year until now, import and export activities of goods through Lang Son province have achieved positive results. In addition to high import-export tax revenue, the turnover of import-export goods through the province's border gates also increased compared to the same period in 2023.

Preliminary data from Lang Son Customs Department shows that from the beginning of the year until now, border gate Customs units have processed 24,460 declarations with a turnover of US$660,030 million, an increase of 42.3% compared to the same period last year. In particular, both exports and imports show positive growth.

Specifically, on the export side, Lang Son Customs processed 9,696 declarations with a turnover of US$303.407 million, a year-on-year increase of 39.6%; on the import side, the customs agency processed 14,764 declarations with a turnover of US$356.623 million, a year-on-year increase of 44.8%.

With the clear turnover growth, the state budget revenue from import-export activities managed by Lang Son Customs Department rose 42.05% year-on-year to VND766 billion, accounting for 15.32% of assigned target. In addition, Lang Son Customs Department also implemented fee collection according to Decision No. 24/2019/QD-UBND dated December 31, 2019 of the People's Committee and earned VND74.8 billion.

At the meeting, Mr. Doan Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee shared information about the implementation of management of state budget revenues and expenditures in the first months of 2024 in Lang Son province.

Mr. Doan Thanh Son said that in 2023 and the first months of 2024, the border economic development situation in the province showed a positive direction. Currently, Lang Son province is accelerating the progress of building the Pilot Project of Smart Border Gate. Therefore, on behalf of the leaders of Lang Son province, Mr. Doan Thanh Son proposed Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chi and the leaders of the Ministry of Finance to continue to pay attention and support Lang Son province to complete the project to submit to the Prime Minister for approval.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Chi suggested that the Departments of Finance, Tax and Customs of Lang Son province need to continue to perform well the tasks of the sector, especially the implementation of electronic invoices in petroleum business field in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction. At the same time, units have proactively captured information to advise the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Lang Son province to direct border gate economic development.
