Customs clearance at border gates is still convenient

Talking to reporters, Mr Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Dong Dang-Lang Son border gate economic zone management board, said that although currently there are more than 1,000 trucks of goods traded in the area every day, of which exports are about 500 vehicles, customs clearance of goods at border gates, especially Huu Nghi international border gate, is still convenient.

However, durian products and many other items such as dragon fruit, jackfruit, longan, and lychee are in the harvest. It is forecasted that the output in the 2nd and 3rd quarters is estimated at 650,000 tons. Meanwhile, because the Chinese side has designated durian products to be exported only through Huu Nghi international border gate, the truckloads have increased at the border gate area compared to the previous time.

Statistics show that, since May 22, the number of trucks transporting agricultural products from inland provinces to the Huu Nghi international border gate area has increased dramatically.

Faced with this situation, the Management Board of the Dong Dang-Lang Son border gate economic zone arranged for the trucks to enter the non-tariff area and the parking lot of Xuan Cuong Friendship Joint Stock Company. Therefore, trucks, especially those carrying agricultural products and fresh fruits to the border gate, do not have to park on the street, ensuring security and order and environmental sanitation.

At the same time, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone, the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Lang Son Customs Department worked with the Bang Tuong General Taxation Department (China) and agreed to start from May 26, the time for customs clearance procedures will be up to 20 hours (Hanoi time) - an increase of 2 working hours compared to the beginning of May 2023. As a result, this helps the average number of vehicles to be cleared through Huu Nghi International border gate per day from 750 to 820 vehicles, an increase of 250-300 vehicles compared to the middle of May 2023.

In particular, Lang Son is also asking the Chinese side to extend the clearance time and transfer some durian products to export through the Tan Thanh border gate to reduce clearance pressure for Huu Nghi international border gate.

After receiving the request from the Lang Son side, the Chinese side optimized the customs clearance, inspection and control process faster, especially agreeing to transfer durian for export through the Tan Thanh border gate in part. Accordingly, on May 30, 60 durian trucks were allowed to carry out export procedures through the Tan Thanh border gate.

With the synchronous solutions of the functional forces of Lang Son province, the customs clearance of goods at border gates in the province is still convenient and free from congestion.

Sharing solutions to support businesses to promote agricultural product exports in the coming time, Mr Nguyen Anh Tai, Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department, said that the unit is trying to optimize the use of border gate infrastructure in the current context. The Customs authority has suggested that enterprises, when carrying out import and export procedures, need to declare in advance the information of goods and means of transport according to the provisions of the customs law into the customs systems as well as Lang Son Digital Border Gate Platform before bringing vehicles and goods into the Vietnamese territory as well as before bringing vehicles and goods into the border gate.

In particular, Lang Son Customs Department recommends that agricultural, forestry, fishery and seafood exporters need carefully study China's regulations on hygiene, food safety, quarantine, packaging, packing specifications, labels, and growing area codes to avoid the case the goods are not received by the Chinese side and forced to be re-imported into Vietnam.
