Talking to Customs Magazine reporters, the leader of Hon Gai Port Border Gate Customs Branch said that the branch has strengthened support measures and dialogue to remove difficulties for businesses. For businesses doing procedures for the first time at the unit, they will receive dedicated, detailed guidance on import-export policies as well as customs procedures. Through capturing information and contacting investors and project owners, the branch has assessed the feasibility, benefits of the project for the locality and prospects in state management of customs of each project.
“In addition to gasoline and vegetable oil, which are traditional products that contribute greatly to revenue, the branch aims to find new sources of revenue, stable and sustainable sources of revenue. Therefore, the branch has organized many working groups to meet and solve difficulties for businesses right from the start of investing in industrial parks, even without customs procedures to find new enterprises and retain existing enterprises. In addition, the branch has arranged civil servants with experience and good professional qualifications to help and support businesses. This is also a convenient contact point for businesses when they encounter problems.
In the first 5 months of 2024 alone, Hon Gai Port Border Gate Customs Branch attracted 66 new businesses to carry out import and export procedures, contributing VND123.8 billion to the State budget revenue.
Among the 66 new businesses participating in customs procedures at Hon Gai Port Border Gate Customs Branch, in addition to businesses that carry out procedures for traditional goods such as raw materials for animal feed production and wood chips, auto assembly spare parts, electronic components and iron and steel products also bring great revenue. For example, Thanh Cong Technology Complex JSC (Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory Project) and Foxconn EV Energy and Components Co., Ltd. This is a positive signal showing that the work of attracting new businesses to do procedures at the branch has achieved positive results.
Proactively grasping and supporting businesses
Sharing about solutions to attract enterprises to carry out customs procedures in the area, the leader of Hon Gai Port Border Gate Customs Branch said that the branch regularly coordinates with the Economic Zone Management Board and enterprises specialized in infrastructure business in industrial parks to contact enterprises right from the time enterprises prepare to invest in industrial parks, prepare to start projects, to promptly grasp problems and provide guidance on procedures when starting production and business. Accordingly, the branch sends officers to the enterprise headquarters to immediately support and answer questions of enterprises.
The Branch regularly coordinates with other authorities at the border gate, acting as a "bridge" to handle problems during customs clearance. In particular, the unit regularly connects customs brokers and logistics service providers with import-export enterprises, to help enterprises more proactive in production and business activities when implementing import and export activities.
To promote import-export activities in the area, the leader of Hon Gai Port Border Gate Customs Branch said that it is necessary to further develop the logistics system and services in the port area because enterprises lack warehouses and yards and have to rent warehouses and yards in other areas, raising costs for enterprises.
