According to the HCM City Customs Department, in the first 10 months of 2020, the import turnover of goods through the customs branches reached $45,415.33 million, down 6.61% over the same period in 2019.
In particular, key imported commodity groups decreased deeply, such as: iron and steel reached $1,380.71 million, down 27.78% over the same period in 2019; cars of all kinds reached $698.17 million, down 30.49% over the same period in 2019; petroleum reached $1,218.29 million, down 43.61% over the same period last year.
The decrease in imported goods has dragged down the revenue collected from import-export activities of the HCM City Customs Department. In October 2020, the revenue collection was only VND8,765 billion, a decrease of VND315 billion compared to September 2020.
Analysing the imported goods, HCM City Customs Department forecast that in 2020, the unit's revenue collection would reach about VND101,000 billion to VND101,500 billion, reaching 88.3% of the ordinance estimate of VND115,000 billion, reaching 85.5% over the same period in 2019 (an absolute decrease of VND17,200 billion).
