The local customs department detected suspicious signs for an imported shipment of APKEY Ha Noi Joint Stock Company.
The goods were declared as glass door accessories including nine items, originating in China.
However, through a physical inspection, the department detected 1,000 locks used in glass doors but the company declared them as glass door lock clamp.
In addition, there were 1,450 KOLN hinges with embossed words "Germany". However, the goods were imported from China.
The Customs investigated and identified that the company falsely declared name, category and codes of the goods and imported fake goods.
The value of fake goods was VND646 million and misdeclared goods was more than VND174 million, with a missing tax amount of VND9 million.
The department has issued a decision on imposing a fine worth VND160 million and forcing the company to re-export the shipment.
Earlier, Hai Phong Customs Department seized a shipment containing 70,000 fake products in June.
On June 8, a Hanoi-based company opened a declaration to import the shipment from China to Hai Phong Port.
The goods were declared as new drill bits, door locks, wrenches, concrete chisels.
The Customs detected over 21,000 fake locks, 40,000 fake drill bits and 10,000 fake concrete chisels worth nearly VND1 million.
The department transferred the case to the Police for handling.
