GDVC assigns minimum targets for overdue tax debt collection and settlement in 2024 to customs departments

Accordingly, the GDVC assigns targets for collection and settlement of overdue tax debt and late tax payment interest; fines and late payment interest for administrative violations for overdue debts arising before January 1, 2024 of cleared/released declarations as of December 31, 2023 to provincial and city customs departments and Post-Clearance Audit Department.
Specifically, Lao Cai Customs Department is assigned the highest overdue tax debt target of about VND418 billion; Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department is assigned the target of VND 235 billion; Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department is assigned the target of VND129 billion; Ha Noi Customs Department is assigned the target of over VND 71 billion; Lang Son Customs Department is assigned the target of over VND31 billion; Quang Ninh Customs Department is assigned the target of over VND24 billion...
The GDVC requests that provincial and city customs departments that do not assign debt collection and settlement targets, continue to apply enforcement measures in line with regulations. The regulator also asked the departments to monitor, manage and propose handling of bad debts. Review and classify debts in the guidance in the Procedures for Management of Tax Debts and other revenues for Import-Export Goods issued in Decision 2317/QD-TCHQ dated October 24, 2022 of the GDVC’s Director General.
The GDVC assigns the Directors of the Provincial and City Customs Departments and the Post-Clearance Audit Department to comply with provisions and prevent new tax debts in 2024. If new debts arise, the units must immediately implement debt collection solutions and apply enforcement measures.
In addition, the GDVC requests heads of GDVC’s departments under the General Department of Customs, are responsible for inspecting and implementing measures to urge, recover and handle tax debts arising in the Customs inspection process.
As of February 29, the total tax debt managed by the Customs industry was VND5,436.9 billion, an increase of VND54.5 billion compared to December 31, 2023. Also as of February 29, 2024, the entire Customs industry collected and processed VND23.3 billion of tax debt.
