Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang works with GDVC at the first working day after the Tet holiday

VCN- On February 3, the first working day after the Tet holiday, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang and the delegation visited and worked with the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC).

Director General Nguyen Van Tho, Deputy Directors General, officials, civil servants and employees of the GDVC attended the meeting.

On the occasion of the Spring of At Ty 2025, on behalf of the Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Finance, Minister Nguyen Van Thang respectfully sent his best wishes to all the GDVC's officials, civil servants and employees.

At the meeting, the Minister reviewed the outstanding achievements of the Finance sector and the GDVC in 2024 and set out key goals and tasks for 2025.

The Minister said that in order to meet the goals and requirements in 2025, the Finance sector in general and Vietnam Customs in particular would perform new tasks and face many difficulties and challenges.

Minister Nguyen Van Thang believes that all officials, civil servants and employees would promote the strength of solidarity, bravery, and creativity, dare to think, dare to do, change difficulties and challenges into breakthrough opportunities, with great determination and efforts under the theme “Discipline and responsibility; proactivity and timeliness; streamlined and effective operations; accelerated breakthroughs” to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.

The Minister required the Customs sector to focus on six key tasks as follows:

Firstly, the Customs needs to drastically and effectively implement solutions to facilitate trade, improve the effectiveness of state management, and prevent revenue loss in performing the State revenue collection in 2025, and strive to accomplish the task in 2025.

The second, the Customs needs to drastically implement the arrangement of a “streamlined, strong and effective and efficient apparatus”, and build a professional and modern Customs force, meeting the requirements of customs reform and modernization.

The Customs need to ensure that the new apparatus will operate effectively, preventing interruption of work and affecting the normal activities of society and people.

Keep discipline in performing public duties; promote internal inspection and control to prevent, promptly detect, and strictly handle violations.

The third, the Customs needs to amend, supplement and develop legal documents in line with regulations and the new organizational model of the Customs, focusing on customs procedures for exports and imports under the centralized customs clearance model.

The fourth, the Customs need to develop a plan and effectively implement the solutions stated in the Government's Resolution on the main tasks and solutions to implement the Socio-Economic Development Plan and State Budget Estimates for 2025, the Resolution on continuing to implement the main tasks and solutions to improve the business environment, enhance national competitiveness for 2025 and the Action Plan of the Ministry of Finance.

The fifth, the Customs need to run the VNACCS/VCIS System and satellite IT systems stably and smoothly. Accelerate the progress of building the IT System to implement Digital Customs and Smart Customs. Continue to reform and streamline Customs procedures towards modernity and transparency...

The sixth, the Customs need to proactively advise the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389, the Ministry of Finance's Steering Committee 389 to develop plans, direct and coordinate relevant agencies to effectively prevent smuggling and trade fraud; proactively strengthen control and combat against smuggling and trade fraud, especially combating the cross-border drug trafficking and transportation.

On behalf of the leadership and all officials, civil servants and employees of the GDVC, Director General Nguyen Van Tho respectfully thanked Minister Nguyen Van Thang and the working delegation for visiting and working with the GDVC at the first working day of the New Year.

Director General Nguyen Van Tho received the Minister's directions and expressed his determination that he would lead and make great efforts with the whole Customs sector to accomplish the tasks.
