The signing ceremony was attended by GDVC’s Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho, leaders of GDVC’s departments and leaders of units under Vietnam Airlines Corporation.

The signing of cooperation agreement between the GDVC and Vietnam Airlines Corporation aims to improve efficiency of customs control for customs inspection and supervision, anti-smuggling, illicit transportation of goods across borders, and to facilitate movement of goods and passengers by air.

At the ceremony, Director General Nguyen Van Can affirmed that the GDVC and Vietnam Airlines Corporation have coordinated and implemented programs and plans to develop and create favorable conditions for transportation of imports and exports and movement of passengers across international airports across the country.

The achievements in the collaboration between the two sides have contributed to promoting Vietnam’s economic, trade and tourism development.

Director General Nguyen Van Can says that the cooperation and mutual information exchange between the two sides aim to improve the management efficiency of the Customs administration.

The cooperation and information sharing between the two sides aim to improve the management efficiency of the Customs administration, the supervision and performance of customs procedures for inbound and outbound aircraft, luggage of passengers, and goods by air; provide customs laws and regulations to enhance the law compliance of passengers and airline officers, especially in drug prevention.

General Director of Vietnam Airlines Corporation Le Hong Ha said that anti-smuggling anti-trade fraud, and control of import-export activities is one of the key tasks not only for the Customs industry but also a part in the role of the aviation industry.

The fact shows that the smuggling, illegal transportation of goods by air are more complicated. Accordingly, besides the trade facilitation, the issue requires relevant parties to meet higher requirements on inspection and supervision; and create favorable conditions for transportation of goods and passengers by air.

The GDVC and Vietnam Airlines have agreed on a cooperation agreement on exchanging information related to customs control, and cooperation in aviation fields.

“The cooperation agreement is based on the principle of sharing and providing information to ensure compliance with the information security regime and personal data protection in accordance with the laws. Vietnam Airlines commits to providing information related to exit, entry and transit aircraft; introducing management policies in the fields of customs and aviation, including ICAO regulations and international practices related to aviation...’’, Vietnam Airlines’ General Director affirmed.

The cooperation agreement is signed based on the general principle of ensuring the sharing and provision of information to comply with the information security regime and personal data protection under relevant laws. The two sides commit to apply measures to ensure the safety and security of information in accordance with relevant legal provisions.

At the same time, share information in monitoring and managing exports and imports; share information in control, anti-smuggling and trade fraud and illicit transportation of goods by air.

The GDVC is responsible for training, introducing and sharing customs management policies for Vietnam Airlines; passenger's goods; applying digital transformation in the customs field along with e-commerce activities and duty-free goods business.

In addition, the GDVC also share information about supervision and management of imported and exported goods and regulations on sanctioning administrative customs offence; provide information about control, anti-smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods by air.
