Establishing information exchange channels between Customs and enterprises

VCN - Sharing at the 2024 Customs-Business Forum, the Deputy Director of the Customs Modernization and Reform Board (General Department of Vietnam Customs) said that in the coming time, the Customs agency will continue to strengthen its contacts, establish information channels, organize dialogue and consultation conferences to convey more information to the business community.

The Customs Modernization and Reform Board acts as the focal point for coordinating and implementing activities to foster partnerships between Customs and businesses.

Over the years, Customs agencies have conducted frequent consultations. These interactions have fostered a more open dialogue between Customs and the business community, building trust and improving policy development as well as business compliance.

At all levels—General Department, Customs Departments, and Customs Branches—regular consultations and feedback channels have been established. When developing policies, Customs authorities frequently engage with associations, business communities, and individual businesses to gather feedback. This input informs the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the Ministry of Finance in developing policies that align with real-world conditions, ensuring effective customs management, combating smuggling and commercial fraud, while facilitating business development.

For a decade, consultations have been effectively implemented through various communication channels such as phone, websites, and in-person meetings. Businesses have commended Customs for their receptiveness, willingness to learn, and innovation.

Going forward, the General Department of Vietnam Customs aims to further enhance the effectiveness of consultation channels and Customs-business partnerships, strengthening trust between the two parties. The business community should collaborate to establish communication channels with Customs, particularly regarding policy development, implementation, and mutual benefits.

Furthermore, ministries, agencies, and businesses need to focus on digitalization and e-government, enabling synchronization and the promotion of information technology and modernization reforms among these entities and Customs.
