On June 21, Dong Nai Customs Department held the Conference with theme “Meeting, sharing and accompanying private sector in 2024”, drawing participation from over 100 businesses implementing Customs procedures at Dong Nai Customs Department.

At the conference, Mr. Le Van Thung, Director of Dong Nai Customs said that amid difficulties of businesses due to the lasting consequences of economic and political fluctuations in the world and the region from 2023 to now, leaders of Dong Nai Customs Department has drastically directed agencies, departments and industries to implement solutions to remove problems for the private sector. The General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) has issued official dispatches requesting local Customs departments to reform and facilitate import and export activities.

Dong Nai Customs Department has actively grasped the situation and implemented solutions to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for businesses.

According to Mr. Thung, motivated by great efforts in administrative reform and trade facilitation, Dong Nai Customs Department has contributed to helping businesses stabilize and develop production. The import-export turnover processed at the department from the beginning of 2024 to now increases 12% year-on-year to US$22 billion; the revenue rose 13% year-on-year to US$ 9,704 billion, meeting 51.7% of the estimate. This shows that the private sector’ operations have achieved more positive results.

At the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said that as of the first quarter of the year, Dong Nai province has attracted investment from 46 countries and territories with over 1,600 FDI projects and total investment of over US$ 34 billion, including leading countries and territories as Korea, Taiwan (China), Japan, USA, the EU... The province is always one of the top localities in the country in attracting foreign investment. Along with that, the development of 33 industrial parks has attracted more foreign investors into the province.

From those positive results, Dong Nai province's leaders recognized and honored the contributions of private sector, especially FDI enterprises for the province’s development, and expressed their desire to know actual status of enterprises to timely support and remove difficulties for enterprises, and encourage them to overcome problems and challenges in the production and business activities.

“I appreciate the Dong Nai Customs Department for organizing the conference to listen and share issues that businesses are concerned about, and exchange information to further strengthen co-operative relationships of the local government and businesses” - said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang.

According to Ms. Hoang, in the coming time, although there are still many difficulties, it is expected that there will be many opportunities for the development of businesses in the province, especially when Long Thanh Airport comes into operation. Therefore, businesses need to research and expand production and business, diversify business lines, focus on investing in green industrial projects, using advanced technology, clean and environmentally friendly technology to preserve the ecological environment, and create high added value products to bring more efficiency in the investment process in the province.

Notably, wood processing companies, electronics manufacturers, furniture, and garment companies have faced many difficulties in the past years, but they have restored in 2024. “we hope that these companies will receive more orders, earn higher profits and achieve more success” - Mr. Ngo Minh Dinh said.

Mr. Dinh also highly appreciated the significance of Customs-Business dialogue conferences held by Dong Nai Customs Department over the past years. “Through these conferences, Taiwanese businesses may grasp and understand new regulations as well as information related to Customs field. In addition, the Customs better know the status of each business and resolve problems for enterprises.
