Dien Bien Customs arrests couple for drug trafficking

VCN – The Anti-drug Enforcement Team (under Dien Bien Customs Department) has arrested two suspects and seized 16 packages of heroin, weighing 5.6kg.

At 5:30 p.m., on May 15, 2023, a working team consisting of the Anti-drug Enforcement Team, District Polices of Muong Cha, Nam Po, Investigation Police Division on Drug-related crimes patrolled at km8+800, provincial road 145B in De Pua village, Phin Ho commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien province, and discovered four suspects (three men and one woman) showing signs of drug trafficking.

When detecting the working team, three suspects escaped. At the scene, the team arrested Mua Thi Dinh, 35, residing in Na Bung 1 village, Na Bong commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien province.

When pursuing the escaped suspects, the working team arrested Giang A Lenh, 37, and also residing in Na Bong 1 village.

When inspecting the black bag of Mua Thi Dinh, the working team detected 16 packages wrapped in plastic layers containing white powder.

Lenh said that he and his wife Mua Thi Dinh, transported 16 packages of heroin to sell and were arrested by the enforcement team.

The working team invited citizens to witness and made a record of arresting the offender, and seized infringing goods.

Currently, the case is under investigation.

Earlier, on May 12, the enforcement team arrested Luong Van Long, 32, for transporting 247.08gr heroin and 1,048 tablets of synthetic drugs.
