Complete inspection of 50 containers of smuggled fine wood

Customs authorities found all goods was incorrect compared with the customs declaration. Through inspection at the scene, initially, specialised inspection authority stated that it could be West African Padauk which was in the list of Cites. When imported, this item must be licensed by specialised agencies in both export countries and import countries. It was estimated the value of this shipment was more than VND 10 billion.

The above consignment was inspected by Southern Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 3) – Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department (General Department of Vietnam Customs) coordinated with Saigon port area I Customs Branch , Customs Enforcement Team (HCM City Customs Department) from January 2020.

This shipment was opened declaration by Inbe Asia Co., Ltd (address: 51 Nguyen Xi, Ward 26, Binh Thanh District, HCM City). According to the declaration, the imported product was Doussie (scientific name Afzeiia xylocarpa), unprocessed and brand new 100 percent, with dimensions (length: 3.6m-5.8m, width: 19cm-36cm, height: 16cm-28cm).

The Customs authority is completing inspection, waiting for the results of the inspection, making a record of the violation to handle under the law.
