From March 25, 2019, the customs cargo inspection area equipped with a container scanning machine at Tan Cang-Song Than ICD under the management of Song Than Customs Branch was officially put into operation.
Along with a mobile container scanner equipped by the General Department of Vietnam Customs on March 15, 2013 at the Customs Branch managing cargo outside industrial park. Up to now, the scanning of cargo through the container scanning machine at Binh Duong Customs Department has ensured the efficiency of quick clearance, reduced time, cost and safety for goods of enterprises.
Specifically, through scanning at two locations, the unit has scanned 7,948 containers of 5,474 declarations.
The average scanning time is 3-5 minutes/container, if counting the time of inputting data to the system, the physical inspection stage of goods through the scanning machine will be about 10-15 minutes/declaration. The application of cargo inspection through the scanning machine has brought many practical benefits for import and export activities, especially for businesses with large volumes of import and export goods.
Besides facilitating import and export activities of enterprises, the implementation of cargo screening also helped Customs authorities to improve the ability of detecting infringing goods and scanning all goods in containers, thus contributing to preventing and deterring acts of fraud in import and export activities.
Since the beginning of 2019, Binh Duong Customs Department has detected 89 cases of incorrect names and codes of goods, handling administrative violation of over 903 million VND and collecting tax of over 3.4 billion VND.
