Speaking at the closing ceremony, on behalf of the host country, Deputy Director General of Vietnam Customs Nguyen Van Tho respectfully thanked WCO and WCO Secretary General Mr. Kunio Mikuriya for trusting in choosing Vietnam to host the Conference.

Vietnam Customs would also sincerely thanked the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, leaders of the Ministry of Finance, leaders of ministries, departments, agencies, and the Hanoi City People's Committee for their attention, support and cooperation with Vietnam Customs; thanked the Customs administrations from countries around the world, international organizations, research institutes, businesses, and experts for attending and contributing to the success of the conference.

Vietnam Customs would like to sincerely thank the domestic and international press agencies and all reporters who attended and reported on the activities of the 3-day event.

Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho highly appreciated the professionalism and enthusiasm of colleagues from the WCO, agencies and branches who coordinated and supported Vietnam Customs to organize an flagship event for the first time in Vietnam.

Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho said that the 2023 WCO Technology Conference and Exhibition is a meaningful platform for customs managers, partners, and technology experts and affirms the role of technology that will lead the development of customs in the coming decades. This event also appreciated the role of humans as the heart of development. This is the message that organizations need to pay attention to and aim for in their development journey. Vietnam Customs believes that under the guidance, direction and vision of the WCO, we will achieve more breakthrough achievements in the coming time.

After three days of the event, in addition to the 2023 WCO Technology Conference and Exhibition, as the host country, Vietnam Customs made efforts to bring interesting experiences to international visitors about Vietnamese culture, landscapes, and cuisine, said Deputy Director General Nguyen Van Tho.

On behalf of the WCO Secretary General Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, Mr. Hans Pieters, Head of Administration and Personnel (Chief of Staff) at WCO said:

“We spent three days very fast, visited exhibitions and explored modern technologies and equipment”.

From the conference, we can see the data management process of the Customs agency and the importance of people; In which, technology is supporter and people are the main factor. The conference also mentioned solutions to attract the younger generation, standardize different fields of technology, unified data models and file formats. In particular, Mr. Hans Pieters highlighted close cooperation and experience sharing between relevant parties, because "borders are separated but Customs is connected".

On behalf of WCO, Mr. Hans Pieters thanked global sponsors and hoped to meet again next year; Vietnam Customs, Vietnam Government and all delegates present at this conference; thanked Vietnam Customs officials and relevant agencies for their support, especially thanked to the WCO staff who worked tirelessly to make the successful conference.
