Turnover of taxable goods in Hai Phong Customs decreases $265 million

According to Hai Phong Customs Department, in April, total import and export turnover of goods in April reached about $5.711 billion, down 8% compared to the same period in 2019.
In particular, export turnover reached $2,555 billion, down 3.5%; taxable turnover reached US$8.75 million, down 36.3%.
Import turnover reached US$3,156 billion, down 11.3%. However, the taxable turnover was only $1.333 billion, a sharp decrease of 16.3% (equivalent to $265 million) compared to the same period in 2019.
Imported goods which contribute greatly to taxes to Hai Phong Customs Department still dropped sharply such as: automobiles; automobile components and spare parts; motorcycle components and spare parts; petroleum; alcohol; iron and steel.
Specifically, automobiles reached $55.43 million, down 41.8%; automobile spare parts and components reached $9.47 million, down 62.2%; components and spare parts for motorcycles reached $1.06 million, down 24.7%; gasoline and oil gained $30.01 million, down 56.2%; beer and wine reached $0.82 million, down 21.2%; iron and steel reached $184.97 million, down 15.8%; machinery and equipment reached $363.33 million, down 1.3%.
A small number of taxable imported groups achieved growth in turnover over the same period last year, namely motorcycles with $0.89 million, up 118.1%; cosmetics reached $0.43 million, up 140.7%.
Regarding the situation of revenue collection, by the end of April, Hai Phong Customs Department collected VND18,410 billion, reaching 27.48% of the target set by the Ministry of Finance (VND67,000 billion), reaching 25.93% compared to the target set by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, down 18.3% over the same period in 2019.
Particularly, Hai Phong collected VND16,109 billion, reaching 28.21% compared to the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND57,100 billion), reaching 26.45% compared with the target set by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, down 17.2 % compared to the same period in 2019.
