The Ministry of Health reorganizes the business of medicine subject to specialized control

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requested pharmacies to conduct special control in accordance with businesses that are already licensed

In order to avoid the use of medicine subject to special control for wrong purposes, ensuring safety for users, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the provincial Health Departments to direct the pharmacies to intensify the work of management and strictly comply with the current regulations on medicine subject to special control.

The Drug Administration also requested the Health Departments to properly implement the roadmap on the contents of granting certificates of eligibility for pharmaceutical businesses, the scope of wholesaling and retailing addictive drugs, psychotropic medicines and precursor substances, the types of combination between medicine containing drugs, psychotropics, precursor substances, radioactive drugs, and drugs on the list of banned substances used in a number of domain fields in accordance with the provisions of Points a and b, Clause 5, Article 143 of Decree No. 54/2017/ND-CP and relevant regulations.

Furthermore, the Drug Administration of Vietnam requested pharmacies to conduct special control in accordance with businesses that are already licensed and only sell to pharmacies having certificates of eligibility with pharmaceutical business conditions and appropriate business scope.

The sale, transportation and preservation of drugs which must be controlled specifically must have full invoices, vouchers, and the monitoring of books in accordance with regulations for ensuring the traceability of medicines, avoiding losses, and for the timely detection of expired drugs, or drugs of suspected quality.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requested the Health Departments to direct the Department of Health Inspectorate and related divisions to coordinate with the competent authorities in the localities to intensify the inspection and examination of pharmacies which sell medicine subjected to special control. To focus on medicine wholesalers and retailers which combine drugs containing psychotropics.
