The first import shipment of Covid-19 vaccine worth more than VND 12 billion
Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs implemented clearance procedures timely for the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccine |
According to HCM City Customs Department, the first 117,600 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine of AstraZeneca arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on the morning of February 24. The shipment was worth more than VND 12 billion and subject to import duty exemption. It was only required to pay 5% of VAT.
The above shipment was classified to the yellow channel which was subjected to exemption from goods inspection. The Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch has instructed units to process clearance procedures quickly.
At about 1pm on the same day, the shipment was sterilised and brought from TSC's warehouse to the cold storage of the firm for preservation.
This is a vaccine of the famous global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in collaboration with Oxford University (UK) to research and produce, and is brought to Vietnam under a contract between Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC) and AstraZeneca Group signed in November 2020.
Accordingly, VNVC has ordered 30 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine of AstraZeneca in 2021. These vaccines will be delivered in many batches, the first batch of 117,600 doses was delivered to the dedicated cold storage system of VNVC and AstraZeneca.
With this batch of vaccines, Vietnam becomes one of the first countries in Asia to access the prestigious Covid-19 vaccine.
According to the leader of Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch, the unit has always supported timely clearance of import and export consignments related to Covid-19 pandemic prevention. In addition to this first batch of Covid-19 vaccine, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch will continue to implement fast and timely clearance procedures for imported Covid-19 vaccine shipments./.
