Director of Tay Ninh Customs Department Huynh Van Duc said that in the first four months of 2019, the unit has implemented regimes and policies related to import-export activities and immigration and ensured procedures in accordance with the law. As a result, total import and export turnover reached US$3,351.18 million, up 33.97% over the same period last year. The total number of means of transport was 25,355 moves, while immigration passengers were 653,865 moves.
As of April 26, the unit collected VND 745.47 billion, accounting for 119.47% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND 624 billion); 102.12% of the target assigned in Directive 723 / CT-TCHQ (VND 730 billion); 70.99% compared with the target assigned in Official Letter No. 2401 / TCHQ-TXNK dated April 24, 2019 of the General Department of Customs.
In addition, Tay Ninh Customs Department also maintained effective operation and use of VNACCS / VCIS systems and satellite software programmes. it is also promoting the provision of online public services at the Customs Branches and implementing Vietnam’s automated system for seaport custom management (VASSCM) at Ka Tum border gate Customs Branch and Xa Mat border gate Customs Branch.
Smuggling, trade fraud, illegal cross-border transport of goods in the first four months of 2019 in the area were complicated. Violations of counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and intellectual property rights tended to increase. Illegal transport of narcotics had many potential risks.
The unit has taken measures to inspect, supervise and control import and export goods and goods in transit and means of transport. As a result, the unit recorded 63 arrest cases with a value of VND 7.1 billion. In particular, the unit levied administrative violations in 60 cases, prosecuted one criminal case and transferred one case of illegal cross-border transport of currency worth VND 926 million and one case of illegal storage and use of narcotics to the Police of Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province, .
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai praised the achievements of Tay Ninh Customs Department in the four months. In particular, revenue exceeded the targets assigned by the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs. This was a great effort of the unit in extremely difficult conditions of a sharp reduction in revenue, tariff cuts due to the implementation of commitments and bilateral and multilateral agreements of Vietnam with other countries.
Mai said Tay Ninh Customs Department has implemented the task of urging debt recovery well. Although debt recovery was not assigned, the unit still focused on reviewing and urging debt recovery. This was a very positive result. The prevention and fight against smuggling, trade fraud and illegal cross-border transport of goods achieved many encouraging achievements.
However, Tay Ninh has a long border line and is adjacent to many provinces and the trading between Vietnam and Cambodia has great potential risks of smuggling and trade fraud and illegal transport of goods. Accordingly, Tay Ninh Customs should improve the efficiency of the prevention and combat of smuggling and trade fraud in customs process, strengthen coordination with local authorities in the fight against smuggling, illegal cross-border transport of goods, money and drugs, said Mai.
