According to the General Department of Customs, in October, the illegal transportation of goods, currency, and gold across the border showed signs of increasing on the aviation route.
Notably, there were cases of illegal transportation of gold at Noi Bai International Airport (reported by the Customs Magazine).
The illegal trading and transportation of firecrackers and white sugar continued to be complicated in the Central provinces and the Vietnam - Laos border.
In the areas bordering Vietnam - China, Vietnam - Cambodia, the buying, selling and transporting of goods without invoices or documents proving their origin is still complicated, especially for food, cigarettes, tobacco leaves, etc.
In addition, there is a phenomenon of using legal entities of companies that have registered for business to intentionally commit fraud in illegal import procedures for chemicals, which are restricted business items and must be specially controlled according to the provisions of law, etc.
In the face of the above situation, in the role of an advisory body, assisting the Standing Agency of the National Steering Committee 389, the Steering Committee 389 of the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Customs has issued a document directing and warning the entire industry to strengthen the fight against smuggling and trade fraud.
Regarding the results of the fight against smuggling, in October, the entire Customs sector handled 1,775 cases, with the total value of infringing goods estimated at VND 2,529 billion.
The Customs agency prosecuted 3 cases, transferred 13 cases to other agencies for prosecution; collected VND 223.1 billion.
In total, in 10 months, the Customs handled 14,724 cases, with the total value of infringing goods estimated at VND 26,286 billion.
