Long An Customs actively supports businesses to voluntarily comply with the law

VCN - Although the Pilot Program to support and encourage businesses to voluntarily comply with customs laws (referred to as the Customs Compliance Program) has just been implemented at Long An Customs Department, it has brought practical results and has made an important contribution to raising compliance with customs laws of businesses.

Increase reputation, help businesses solve difficulties

Implementing the Customs Compliance Program according to Decision No. 1399/QD-TCHQ dated July 15, 2022, of the General Department of Customs, Long An Customs Department organized a conference to disseminate the program and sign a Memorandum of Understanding with businesses in the area. After one year of implementation from November 1, 2022, at Long An Customs Department, there have been 6 businesses recognized as members of the customs compliance program, including Vinh Hung Aluminum Vietnam Co., Ltd; Long An International Port Management and Operation JSC; Thinh Phat Electric Cable JSC; APA Hop Nhat High Technology Co., Ltd; Truong Son Saigon Production and Trading Co., Ltd; and Dong Hai Ben Tre JSC.

Sharing about the task of supporting businesses to comply with the law, the Director of My Tho Port Border Gate Customs Branch Truong Van Linh said that the unit has actively disseminated and supported businesses to participate in the program. As becoming a member of the program, the business will be guided and supported by the Customs agency to further improve its compliance level, contributing to reducing inspection rates, cutting costs and time in customs clearance; and will be assisted in solving problems to take measures to prevent violations; become a reliable partner of the Customs agency in import and export activities. Although the program has just been implemented, it has brought practical results and has made an important contribution to increasing compliance with customs laws of businesses.

The launching of this program has recognized the Customs agency's support for businesses in improving compliance and also recognized the proactive compliance with customs laws of businesses. The upgrading of customs compliance level has helped businesses gain prestige with customers and partners.

Honored to be selected by the Customs agency as the first enterprise in Tien Giang province to participate in the Customs Compliance Program, Ms. Luong Huynh Giao, Chief Accountant and Head of Import-Export Management Division, Vinh Hung Vietnam Aluminum Co., Ltd. said that the active, effective and practical companionship and support of My Tho Port Customs Branch in customs procedures and management policies for import and export activities have greatly supported company. Despite facing difficulties after the COVID-19 pandemic, the company’s operations are still on the growth path and are expected to continue to grow next year. The company expects to continue to receive support from Long An Customs Department and My Tho Customs Branch in the near future, thereby contributing to society by paying full taxes, creating jobs for workers, and complying with issued customs regulations, Ms. Luong Huynh Giao emphasized.

Continue to improve the quality of business service

To support businesses in improving compliance with customs laws, the Director of Long An Customs Department Nguyen Ngoc Huan said that the unit will continue to implement support measures and resolve difficulties of businesses during customs clearance. At the same time, disseminating legal documents on customs and related legal documents as well as customs policies in the form of direct consultation, through phone, in writing, and through the electronic information portal of the department to improve self-awareness in compliance with customs laws.

In the near future, Long An Customs Department will continue to cooperate closely with businesses and encourage them to voluntarily comply with customs laws, contributing to improving their compliance level, thereby reducing costs, time and management resources of the businesses.

At the same time, in the context that the import-export activities of businesses in Long An province are forecasted to still face difficulties with reduced orders, affecting the results of revenue of Long An Customs Department, the unit will continue to consolidate and improve the communication and establish customs-business advisory teams from department level to branch level to quickly solve difficulties and problems arising, managing letter boxes, update hotlines, post legal documents at the customs checkpoints and answers questions on the website of the department.

In the first ten months of 2023, Long An Customs Department carried out customs procedures for 2.000 enterprises, up 1.8% year-on-year, and recorded a trade turnover of US$14.9 billion, down 7.5% year-on-year.
