Lao Cai Customs collects VND1,150 billion

VCN – The revenue collection of Lao Cai Customs achieved a positive result. However, the situation unfolding in the last months of the year is still difficult to forecast because China's Covid-19 prevention and control policy greatly affects import and export activities.

According to the Lao Cai Customs Department, updated from the beginning of the year to September 14, the unit's revenue reached VND 1,150.4 billion, equaling 74.7% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND 1,540 billion); equal to 63.9% of the target assigned by the People's Council and People's Committee of Lao Cai province (VND 1,800 billion).

Regarding import and export activities through the area, in the third quarter, import and export activities through the border gates in Lao Cai still faced many difficulties. However, Ha Khau district (China) continued to relax social distancing following the "Flexible Zero Covid-19" policy.

The import and export of goods through the international road gate No. II - Kim Thanh is still slow, while this is the largest trading area in Lao Cai.

In the third quarter (from June 16, 2022, to September 14, 2022), 389 enterprises were carrying out import and export procedures at the Lao Cai Customs Department, an increase of 119 enterprises (rising by 144%) compared to the previous quarter.

The total number of declarations was 10,865 sets, an increase of 5,948 (equivalent to an increase of 220%); total turnover reached US$372.3 million, decreasing by 2.5% compared to the previous quarter.

Although the third quarter tends to be prosperous, in general, import and export activities through Lao Cai Customs still witness a gloomy picture since the beginning of the year.

From the beginning of the year to September 14, 559 enterprises were carrying out import and export procedures, dropping by six enterprises compared to the same period last year.

The total number of declarations made was 22,018, a decrease of 21,166 declarations compared to the same period in 2021; total import-export turnover reached nearly US$1.07 billion, reduced by 16.2%, of which export reached US$ 651.5 million, declining by 14.1%, import reached US$ 415.4 million, dropping by 19.5 %.

The main export items included: phosphorus, cassava, wood, peeled board, and dragon fruit; while the main import items were: fertilizers, chemicals, coke, electricity, agricultural products, machinery and equipment, and consumer goods.
