On November 4, the representative of Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Branch said that the lane increase aims to improve customs clearance capacity across the area.
Implementing Decision No. 580/QD-UBND dated March 26, 2024 of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, after a period of construction, completion and upgrading, Control Gate No. 1 has been completed and officially put into operation from November 1, 2024.
Currently, vehicles entering and exiting at Kim Thanh International Land Border Gate No. II can be processed procedures in two exit lanes and three entry lanes.

The operation of the 5-lane traffic diversion plan with the goal of clearing 500 exiting vehicles and 500 entering vehicles per day, plays important role in improving the clearance capacity at Kim Thanh International Land Border Gate No. II and contributing to removing vehicle congestion on the road bridge over the Red River.
It helps minimize the risk of insecurity for the road bridge, meeting the needs of long-term sustainable development with the trend of constantly increasing the volume of import and export goods and vehicles across Lao Cai province.
