According to Hai Phong Customs Department, in September, the department collected VND4,949.1 billion, down VND235.3 billion ( or 5%) month-on-month.

By the end of September, Hai Phong Customs collected VND47,789 billion VND, reaching 59.8% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (VND79,900 billion), decreasing VND10,902.6 billion (or 18.6%) year-on-year (VND58,691.6 billion).

The sharp decline in revenue of Hai Phong Customs Department is due to the sharp decrease in import-export turnover, especially the taxable imports.

By the end of September, the total trade turnover of the department decreased 6.5% year-on-year to US$81.5 billion and the taxable turnover decreased 17.9% to US$15.5 billion.

Of which, exports fell 4.2% to US$41.2 billion and tax exports alone reached US$327.3 million, up 1.7%.

Imports dropped 8.8% to US$40.4 billion and taxable imports dropped 18.2% US$15.2 billion.

The taxable imports decreased year-on-year, such as: machinery and equipment reached US$3.2 billion, down 27.8%, reducing VND2,926.7 billion; automobiles of all kinds reached US$640.8 million, down 30.1%, reducing VND3,439.3 billion; petroleum reached US$301.6 million, down 69.5%, reducing VND1,629.6 billion.

In addition, many products saw decreased revenue from a few to hundreds of billions of VND, such as: furniture reached US$72.6 million USD, down 46.5%, reducing VND155.9 billion; Game equipment and sports equipment reached US$48.9 million, down 29.8%, reducing VND45.5 billion; iron and steel reached more than US$2 billion, down 11.1%, reducing VND659.3 billion; automobile components and spare parts reached US$65.7 million, down 23.7%, reducing VND 54.9 billion; beer and wine reached US$16.1 million, down 25.6%, reducing VND114.6 billion.

From now until the end of 2023, Hai Phong Customs Department will continue to synchronously deploy trade facilitation solutions to help increase revenue; strengthen anti-smuggling work and solutions to prevent revenue loss; focus on collecting and handling tax debt...
