General Department of Vietnam Customs receive 2 high speed boats HQ-120

On 26/5, at the headquarters of Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company (Hai Phong), the handover ceremony of two high speed patrol boats HQ-120 (with identification number HQ-11-91-60 and HQ-14-91-17) was between the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company. Deputy Director General of Vietnam Customs Nguyen Cong Binh and Colonel Nguyen Van Cuong - Deputy General Staff of the General Department of Defense Industry attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director General Nguyen Cong Binh said that in order to meet the requirements of customs modernization, facilitating import and export activities and improving management efficiency, in recent times, with the attention and creation of favorable conditions by Customs leaders, the sector has been promoting the application of IT, investment in modern equipment for professional activities.

In the context of smuggling activities, trade frauds and illegal transportation of goods on the sea have been developing complicatedly, and the timely reception of two HQ-120 high speed patrol boats will contribute to enhancing Customs’ capacity, effective patrol, for the control and combat against smuggling at sea.

Deputy Director General asked the units which received the two modern boats (Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and Quang Ninh Customs Department) to quickly arrange the forces to learn the features and equipment on board, to make plans soon in order to deploy the HQ-120s safely and effectively.

Colonel Luong Thanh Chuong, Director of Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company, said that the pair of HQ-120 boats which were handed over to the General Department of Vietnam Customs was jointly organized by the Military Ship Design Institute and the Shipbuilding Technology Development Company to design on the basis of samples of high speed patrol boats that have been equipped for Vietnam Coast Guard.

The HQ-120 boat has a length of 34.37m, a maximum width of 6.8m, a displacement of 123 tons and a crew of 16 people.

The ship has a capacity of 5,200 horsepower, equipped with synchronous equipment, a maximum speed of 30 knots, a range of 1200 nautical miles, with the capacity for 15 days / nights of continuous use at sea.
