The ceremony was attended by Deputy Director General of Vietnam Customs Hoang Viet Cuong, Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan, and representatives of GDVC’s departments, local government agencies, and import and export enterprises.

At the opening ceremony, Director of Bac Ninh Customs Department Tran Duc Hung said that following the direction of the Prime Minister on improving the capacity of international rail transport, on January 19, the Ministry of Transport issued Decision No. 42/QD-BGTVT allowing Kep Station to operate international transport. On May 29, the General Department of Vietnam Customs issued Decision No. 1164/QD-TCHQ on the recognition of the checkpoint at Kep Station.

“The operation of the technical team at Kep Station will help reduce the workload for the Technical team under Bac Giang Industrial Park Management Customs Branch, and facilitate the business community in the customs process, shorten customs clearance time and movement for enterprises, and reduce costs. The department will select some enterprises located in Lang Giang district and neighboring areas to register for customs procedures at the team, and will implement suitable arrangements for the strong development of the team,” said Hung.

Kep Station has been upgraded and repaired by Vietnam Railway Corporation (phase 1), with an area of about 28,000 m2, meeting requirements for the operation of international rail transport.

The establishment of this professional team facilitates the import and export of goods in Bac Giang province through Kep station.

At the ceremony, Deputy Director General Hoang Viet Cuong said that in recent years, Bac Giang province had become a potential destination for investment attraction, especially in administrative reform to facilitate enterprises and people with many indexes ranking among the top provinces and cities.

Establishing the team will put Kep Station into the Customs checkpoint system, contributing to local socio-economic development. On the other hand, it also plays an important role in the Customs sector and the locality, contributing to reducing the time and cost of transportation for businesses.

The Deputy Director General suggested Bac Ninh Customs Department to soon develop and implement the plan for Digital Customs and Smart Customs at its branches. Therefore, this requires the efforts of the Bac Ninh Customs Department, as well as the coordination and support of local government agencies, to create more favorable conditions for people and businesses.

Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan said that the transportation of goods by rail has more outstanding advantages than other modes. This is the first time that fresh lychees have been transported by rail.
