MoF agree to upgrade Kep Station to international intermodal rail terminal

According to the Ministry of Finance, upgrading Kep Station as an international intermodal rail terminal will facilitate the development of a focal point for goods transhipment for Bac Giang province and neighbouring provinces, helping to reduce logistics costs and creating favourable conditions for import and export enterprises.
Recently, the Ministry of Transport has consulted relevant agencies on improving the capacity of International intermodal transport by rail for import and export, including the procedure for announcing the Kep station as an international intermodal rail terminal.
The Ministry of Finance said adding Kep Station as an international intermodal rail terminal is necessary.
According to the Ministry, the study of solutions to improve the capacity and efficiency of transport of exported and imported goods by rail comply with the direction of the Government in Resolution 25/NQ-CP dated March 7, 2022, to overcome difficulties and challenges soon, and accelerate the socio-economic recovery and development of the country, the Ministry of Transport was assigned to chair and coordinate with ministries and agencies for performance.
In May 2012, the Ministry of Finance commented on improving the capacity and efficiency of transporting exported and imported goods by rail. Accordingly, the Ministry, based on the planning and announcement of the international railway terminal and capacity and infrastructure conditions coordinates with the Ministry of Transport and relevant ministries and sectors to arrange forces to carry out customs procedures, inspect, supervise and control import and export goods and improve the efficiency of customs clearance for import and export goods, means of transport on exit and entry at international intermodal terminals.
Currently, the Ministry of Finance proposes that the Ministry of Transport soon complete the legal framework related to the planning and announcement of international intermodal terminals.
While waiting for the planning, the Ministry of Finance agrees with the proposal of the Ministry of Transport to propose the Prime Minister allow international intermodal activities at Kep Station in Bac Giang province.
