Customs units across the country strive to complete the task in 2022

At Hanoi Customs Department, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger in 2022, all subordinate units ensured work at the agency in accordance with regulations, ensuring security and safety for passengers on entry and exit and import-export activities take place normally.

During the Tet holiday, Hanoi Customs Department carried out immigration procedures for 92 flights; import and export procedures for 25 declarations; while revenue collection reached more than VND2.2 billion.

At Hai Phong Customs Department, the Spring welcome took place safely, in accordance with regulations, and staff was arranged to ensure compliance with regulations to carry out procedures for businesses.

Three days before the Tet holiday (January 27 to 31), the total declarations for completing procedures at Hai Phong Customs were 16,667 declarations of nearly 2,500 businesses, with a total turnover of nearly US$908 million.

At Quang Ninh Customs Department, the unit celebrated Tet safely and did not register cases of officials and employees violating discipline, security and social order; timely serve people and businesses to carry out customs procedures.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, the units regularly ensured the number of officers to help people and businesses to carry out customs procedures; there were no reports of smuggling and illegal transport of goods cross-border in the areas under their management.

Specifically, the unit enhanced the responsibility of the leader in organizing the implementation of regulations on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year.

The units strictly implemented discipline, assigned leaders, customs officers and workers to work during the Tet holiday in order to serve immigration, import and export activities, avoiding goods congestion at the border and customs clearance points.

At the same time, the unit strengthened the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, closely coordinated with competent forces, focusing on inspection and control in key areas.

Talking to reporters, the leader of Mong Cai Customs Branch (Quang Ninh Customs Department) said that the branch received five containers of imported electronic goods, worth US$3.7 million on the first days of spring (February 5 and 6, 2022). The shipment of LG Group imported under the form of outsourcing, manufacturing and exporting, moved from one gate to another.

For border exports, from February 3 to February 6, 2022, the branch carried out export procedures for 72 declarations (274 vehicles) with an amount of 797 tons, worth US$4.53 million through the road of the pontoon bridge Km 3+4. The goods were mainly fresh seafood (including fresh sea crabs, snails and lobsters).

In Lang Son, from the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year of the Tiger (February 3), customs clearance for import and export goods resumed at Huu Nghi international border gate and Tan Thanh border gate. Accordingly, by the end of February 6, more than 200 vehicles have been successfully exported to China. Notably, the first shipments exported to China were mainly agricultural products such as mango, jackfruit and dragon fruit. In order to clear goods smoothly and accurately, Customs, Border Guard and Quarantine units at the border gates in Lang Son actively implemented professional measures, working overtime to ensure fast and correct process.

Talking to reporters on the afternoon of February 6, Director of Tan Thanh Customs Branch Dao Thu Lan said that from the morning of the 3rd day of Tet, cargo clearance at Tan Thanh border gate resumed. This year, the Chinese forces did not return to their hometown to celebrate Lunar New Year, so they reopened customs clearance, allowing agricultural products to be exported earlier. On February 6, the unit carried out procedures for 29 trucks of agricultural products, including fresh fruits, to be exported to China. From February 3 (the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year) to February 6, the unit completed procedures for 98 vehicles of agricultural products which were fresh fruits to be exported to China (items were watermelon, dragon fruit, mango, jackfruit, bananas, tapioca starch). Currently, 467 trucks are waiting for export in Bao Nguyen parking lot.

A representative of Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department) said that on the first day of reopening (the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), the unit cleared customs procedures for nearly 70 agricultural vehicles. The products included fresh fruit that was exported to China. Before the Tet holiday, Huu Nghi Customs informed businesses that it was always ready when cargo clearance activities are restored. On the morning of the 3rd day of Tet, due to the unsecured workforce at the border gate, the unit mobilized a youth union to assist businesses to carry out cargo clearance procedures.

Preliminary statistics showed that by the end of February 6, the total number of vehicles carrying export goods remaining in Lang Son province was 1,159 vehicles, an increase of 228 compared to February 5. In particular, at Huu Nghi international border gate area were 636 vehicles (621 cars of fruit and 15 cars of other goods).

At Quang Tri Customs Department, during the nine days of the Lunar New Year holiday (from January 29 to February 6, 2022), units under the Department maintained normal operations, ensuring sufficient staff to handle work, creating favorable conditions for businesses to operate import and export activities.

Quang Tri Customs Department thoroughly communicated to all customs officers and employees to seriously implement the Law on prevention and control of harmful effects of alcohol and beer; strictly comply with regulations on prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Leaders of the Department, affiliated units and customs officers working during the Tet holiday must ensure the number of customs officers in order to deal with issues, support and solve difficulties for enterprises; ensure the safety of the headquarters; stand ready to respond and implement measures to prevent and control natural disasters, storms and floods.

From January 31 to February 3, 2022, the unit carried out clearance procedures for 12 goods declarations with a turnover of US$330,710 and carried out procedures for 86 vehicles on exit and entry through Lao Bao and La Lay border gates.

In Ha Tinh, with the spirit of actively supporting and opening up import and export activities, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, 100% of units under Ha Tinh Customs arranged one out of three officers for work during the Tet holiday. At Cau Treo Customs Branch, by the end of the 29th day of the Lunar New Year, enterprises still opened customs declarations.

After nine days of the Lunar New Year holiday, on the morning of February 7, although no businesses opened import and export declarations, trade activities across Vietnam - Laos border were still smooth. Cau Treo Customs Branch arranged customs officers to coordinate with competent forces at the border gate in order to check and control people and vehicles.

At Vung Ang Port Customs Branch, in the first days of the new year, large ships still loaded goods of Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. These were shipments that opened declarations in the last days of 2021.

These days, in order to support businesses to clear goods on the first day of the new year, Ha Tinh Customs strengthened customs officers to directly receive customs declarations and carry out procedures for import and export goods of enterprises.

In addition, Ha Tinh Customs also required its units to closely coordinate with relevant forces to strictly manage import and export activities; check the medical conditions for people entering and exiting through the border gate; strengthen the management of foreigners, means of transport, especially means of transport from the border inland.

With solutions implemented at the beginning of the year, in the first month of 2022, Ha Tinh Customs completed procedures for more than 1,050 declarations with a total import-export turnover of more than US$360 million. Thereby, Ha Tinh Customs Department collected and paid more than VND1,500 billion to the state budget, an increase of 275% compared to the same period in 2021.

At Da Nang Customs Department, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the unit ensured traffic safety, fire and explosion prevention, and maintained security of the headquarters. From January 31, 2022 to the end of February 4, 2022, all customs branches, assigned leaders and customs officers to perform duties and solve the results of customs procedures during the Tet holiday. For example, Da Nang port Customs Branch received and carried out customs procedures for three re-export declarations of petroleum (the turnover was US$205,303), eight transit declarations; carried out procedures for passenger ships on entry and exit for 16 trips.

At other branches of Da Nang Customs Department, there were notices of assigning customs officers to handle procedures. Total state revenue collection from January 1, 2022 to February 7, 2022 of Da Nang Customs Department was VND712.11 billion, reaching 15.8% of the assigned estimate (VND4,500 billion).

At Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department on February 7, Customs units started the new year with a joyful and exciting atmosphere, determined to successfully complete the tasks in 2022.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Border Gate Customs Branches, at the beginning of the new year, because many businesses had not been put into operation, the volume of import and export goods through seaport border gates and international airports was still limited. However, the branches have placed enough officers in order to carry out clearance procedures for import and export shipments smoothly.

At the Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch (Cat Lai port), on the first day of the new year, imports were still limited, but exports were busy. The unit completed clearance procedures for more than 20 import and export declarations. In six days of the Lunar New Year (from the 1st to the 6th of the Lunar New Year), the Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch carried out clearance procedures for 95 export declarations, with a total turnover of over US$1.5 billion.

During Tet, on average, Cat Lai port received more than 10 ships per day, the output reached 118,097 Teu, equivalent to more than 1.65 million tons of goods. Particularly on New Year's Eve, the port welcomed seven container ships. Accordingly, the first shipment was loaded onto the CAPE QUEST vessel of CMA CGM (France) carrying hundreds of export containers. The Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch arranged the force to carry out clearance procedures in order to facilitate import-export activities.

According to the leader of Tan San Nhat International Airport Customs Branch, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the customs branch arranged officers to carry out clearance procedures for import-export shipments such as fresh food and seafood. In particular, the unit carried out procedures for nearly 500 export declarations, with a total turnover of nearly US$12 million.

At the Customs Branches of seaports and export processing zones of Ho Chi Minh City, during the Tet holiday, although there were no enterprises registering to carry out import and export procedures, the branches still arranged enough officers to deal with export shipments, border-gate transfer at the request of enterprises.

At Binh Duong Customs Department, during the nine days of the Tet holiday, the unit assigned customs officers and employees to promptly clear import-export goods for 132 enterprises with a total of 1,537 declarations, with the total value import-export turnover reaching over US$119 million. The main products included wood products, wooden furniture; leather shoes; garment materials, iron and steel, bags; machine tools, medical equipment and manufacturing electrical and mechanical products.

One of the branches with a large number of businesses carrying out import and export procedures during the past New Year holidays, the manager of Thu Dau Mot Customs Branch Huynh Trinh Thanh said that the branch arranged customs officers to carry out customs clearance procedures for import-export shipments of 20 enterprises with 413 declarations; total import-export turnover reached over US$46 million.

At the Customs Branch Managing Cargo Outside Industrial Park, during the Tet holiday, the unit also received and cleared customs procedures for 26 enterprises with 183 import-export declarations, total turnover reached over US$10.7 million.

Similarly, My Phuoc Industrial Park Customs Branch carried out customs clearance procedures for 26 enterprises with a total of 169 import and export declarations. Total import-export turnover in the nine days of Tet reached over US$9.1 million; Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Customs Branch has received and completed procedures for 21 businesses with 162 import and export declarations of goods including electrical equipment, electronic components, and garments. Total import-export turnover reached over US$3.3 million.

At Dong Nai Customs Department, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the unit facilitated and quickly cleared customs for import and export shipments to do customs procedures at the unit; arranged customs officers and employees to handle clearance procedures, supervise import and export goods at the request of enterprises. The unit also actively grasped the actual situation, promptly directed, and quickly solved problems that fall under the control of the unit.

Accordingly, Dong Nai Customs Department has handled procedures for 856 declarations, including 666 export declarations and 190 import declarations; total import-export turnover reached US$22.1 billion, including US$7.6 billion of import turnover and US$14.5 billion of export turnover. The total amount of import and export tax incurred following the declaration reached VND12 billion. Dong Nai Customs Department also carried out procedures for 22 ships on entry and exit, including eight entry ships, one port-transfer ship and 13 exiting ships.
