Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said that the theme of this year's Conference “Embracing the Digital Age: Leveraging Technology, Fostering Innovation, and Nurturing the Next Generation of Customs Professionals” shows the following of the general world trend, and in line with the development of Vietnam Customs.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the close coordination of the WCO, the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, and relevant agencies to organize this important event.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, during 70 years of development, WCO has effectively promoted its key role in fostering international cooperation in the Customs sector.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang thanked the close cooperation and strong support of the WCO and other Customs administrations for Vietnam Customs. For 30 years, Vietnam Customs has been an official member of the WCO.

Currently, the international political and security situation is complicated; the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic is still significant; the global economy suffers from difficulties; the control, prevention, and combat of smuggling, commercial fraud, and anti-revenue loss face many challenges. In that context, Vietnam Customs plays a very important role in supporting economic development and facilitating investment attraction, tourism trade, and people-to-people exchanges between countries, and ensuring social order and safety, improving national competitiveness.

Therefore, Vietnam Customs must be one of the pioneering sectors in promoting the application of science and technology and digital transformation. To do this, Vietnam Customs must build and develop human resources.

In recent years, Vietnam Customs has seen outstanding development and gained key achievements. However, the Customs sector needs to make more efforts to meet the increasing requirements of the new situation. The sector needs to improve institutions to enhance efficiency and service quality; arrange the apparatus organization; modernize facilities; and build human resources.

In the near future, Vietnam should continue to promote its proactive, positive, and responsible role in promoting international cooperation on customs in a comprehensive, extensive, and effective manner; develop bilateral and multilateral relationships with other customs administrations, implement cooperation agreements, programs, and commitments with international partners; expedite internalization of international commitments consistent with the domestic legal system.

In this process, along with maximizing the development of internal resources, Vietnam hopes to continue to receive close cooperation and effective support from the WCO and Customs administrations of other countries through various forms such as sharing information and experience, supporting digital transformation, modernizing facilities and equipment, optimizing procedures, training and developing human resources to achieve the In this process, along with maximizing the development of internal resources, Vietnam hopes to continue to receive close cooperation and effective support from the WCO and Customs agencies of other countries through various forms of support. The Deputy Prime Minister said that the participation of Customs administrations, the world's leading technology providers, associations, and business communities... affirms the great determination to build and develop an effective customs system at national, regional, and global levels.
