Customs sector achieve 50% budget collection in 6 months

VCN – According to the statistic of General Department of Customs, till the end of June 2017, the budget collection of the whole sector is estimated to achieve 141 billion vnd, reached 49.47% of appropriation plan of 285,000 billion vnd assigned by National Assembly, increased by 9,41% compared to the same period in 2016.

Additionally, only in June 2017, a budget collection of the entire Customs sector is estimated to achieve 23 trillion vnd. Specifically, the turnover of some major import items tended to decrease compared to the previous month such as imported computers, electronic products and components (declined by 5.3% compared to the previous month); Machinery, equipment and spare parts (decreased by 1.7%); Fabrics (decreased by 3.5%); Iron and steel of all kinds (declined by 4.5%); Raw materials for textiles, garments, leather, shoes (went down by 5.4%); Chemicals (declined by 4.5%), etc.

However, some imported products increased slightly compared to last month such as: gasoline of all kinds ( rising by 24.7% in volume and 19% in value); Phones and parts (increased by 0.1%); Other common metals (rising by 6.8%).

Furthermore, the turnover of some key export items also fell last month: phones and accessories (went down by 8.1%); Machinery, equipment, spare parts (decreased by 8.2%); Aquatic products (declined by 1.3%), etc.

Through the analysis of import and export situation shows that the total import and export value in June 2017 is estimated to reach $US 35.8 billion, decreased by 1.6% over the previous month. In that, the total export value reached $US 16.7 billion, decreased by 0.7% and total import value reached $US 18 billion, declined by 2.5% over the same period.

As a result, in the first 6 months of 2017, Vietnam's total import and export value was estimated at $US 198.25 billion, increased by 21.5% over the same period of 2016. In that, the total export value reached $US 97.78 billion, increased by 18.9% and total import value was $US 100.47 billion, increased by 24.1%.

Also, Vietnam's trade balance in June 2017 was a deficit by $US 200 million. Thus, the level of the trade deficit in the first two-quarters of 2017 is increased to $US 2.7 billion, equivalent to 1.4% of the total export turnover.

A highlight of the Customs operation in June is the result of anti-smuggling and trade fraud, from 16/5/2017 to 15/6/2017, the entire Customs sector has presided over and coordinated with other competent force to detect and seize 1,378 violation cases. The value of infringed goods is estimated at 79.4 billion vnd, contributed to the state budget by 29.9 billion vnd. Also, Customs authorities have prosecuted 4 cases and transferred to others authorities for prosecution 7 cases.
