Customs assigns target of recovering and handling overdue tax debt for 24 units

VCN - To ensure the effectiveness of tax debt collection, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has issued Decision 419/QD-TCHQ, assigning targets for the collection and handling of overdue tax debts in 2022 for 24 units in the sector.

Accordingly, the General Department of Vietnam Customs assigned targets for collection and handling of overdue tax debts and late payment interest; monetary penalties for administrative violations and for late payment of administrative violations for overdue debts incurred before January 1, 2022 of declarations that are already cleared/released (including the group of receivable debts and debt for administrative violations) as of December 31, 2021 for local customs departments and post-clearance audit departments.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs stated that for local customs departments that do not assign targets for debt collection and handling in this decision, they would continue to apply coercive measures as prescribed. They would also monitor, manage and propose to handle bad debts at the unit.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs assigned to heads of the local Customs Departments and the Directors of the Post-Clearance Audit Department to implement in accordance with the regulations.

At the same time, avoid new tax debts in 2022. In case of arising new debts, they must immediately implement debt recovery solutions and apply coercive measures in accordance with regulations.

Heads of units under the General Department of Vietnam Customs should base on their assigned functions and tasks to take responsibility for inspecting and implementing measures to urge, recover and handle tax debts arising during the inspection process.

In particular, the Director of the Import-Export Duty Department and the Director of the Organization and Personnel Department are responsible for urging the local customs departments and the Post-Clearance Audit Department to collect and handle tax arrears, late payment, overdue fines for administrative violations and propose to reward and discipline units in performing assigned tasks.

According to Decision 419/QD-TCHQ, HCM City Customs Department is assigned to collect total debt up to nearly VND905 billion; Lao Cai Customs Department is VND346 billion; Bac Ninh Customs Department is over VND162 billion VND; Binh Duong Customs Department is over VND107 billion; the Post-Clearance Audit Department is over VND35 billion; and Quang Ngai Customs Department is over VND27 billion.
