Cooperation between Viet Nam and US Customs administrations promotes

At the working session, GDVC’s Director General Nguyen Van Can expressed his attitude to achievements in cooperation between Viet Nam and US Customs administrations.
Director General Nguyen Van Can says that in recent years, the cooperation between Vietnam and US Customs administrations has been promoted regularly and effectively, especially since the two Governments inked the Customs Cooperation Agreement in 2019 (effective date on May 2020).
On multilateral cooperation forums, the two Customs administrations have deepened their cooperation tremendously in exchanging intelligence information, ensuring supply chain security and safety between Vietnam and the US such as positive results in exchanging information on anti-dumping and anti-fraud of origin for aluminum and plywood products.
“Vietnam Customs has been regularly assisted by the US Customs in capacity building for Viet Nam Customs officials and working teams to the US. In addition, the support in facilities, surveys, and assessment from the US Government, Viet Nam Customs has gained the support of the US Department of State in developing projects; and the support of the US Department of Energy in preventing the spread of radioactive substances, and the Container Security Initiative...”, the Director General said.
At the working session, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper highly appreciated the cooperation between the two Customs administrations, especially in trade facilitation and law enforcement.
“The diplomatic relationship between the two countries has been developed into a comprehensive strategic partnership. This is also the responsibility of the two Customs administrations to further foster the economic cooperation of the two countries to enter a new phase. The increase in bilateral trade also requires the two Customs administrations to make a great effort to strengthen cooperation. Through the working session, we look forward to listening to opinions from Viet Nam Customs to promote the cooperation between the two sides” Mr. Marc E. Knapper said.

On this occasion, Director General Nguyen Van Can wishes to continue to receive the assistance of the Ambassador in further promoting cooperation between the two Customs administrations and the US Government agencies, and in supporting Viet Nam Customs to improve management capacity, thereby boosting trade between the two countries and preventing Customs offenses.
