On June 29, at the meeting with the Border Gate Customs Branches of Huu Nghi, Coc Nam and Tan Thanh (under Lang Son Customs Department), Huu Nghi Quan Customs (China) notified it would suspend operational performance and customs clearance of goods at Lung Vai (Bang Tuong)-Coc Nam (Lang Son) Border Gates from July 1.

After the Chinese side notified this, Lang Son Customs proposed the China Customs consider and report to competent authorities about the suspension of operational performance at this border gate. Specifically, Lang Son Customs proposed the Chinese side maintain the customs clearance of goods exported from Vietnam to China to facilitate the export of enterprises’ fresh fruit products.

However, the Chinese side said the goods transportation across the residential areas at the couple border check point of Lung Vai (Bang Tuong)-Coc Nam (Lang Son) does not meet requirements of goods inspection and control. Therefore, to ensure requirements, the Chinese side will build a specialised route to transport goods. However, the Chinese side also acknowledged the proposal of Lang Son Customs and reported to competent authorities for consideration.

Notably, after nearly two days, on June 30, the Chinese side suddenly informed enterprises and agencies in Lang Son side about the maintenance of operational performance at Lung Vai Border Gate (Bang Tuong) until the end of July.

The Chinese side proposedcompetent agencies of Lang Son province coordinate with it to ensure smooth customs clearance. At the same time, publicise to businesses to know and have plans to transport goods to the border gate to go through customs clearance as normal.

To grasp the situation, in the morning of July 1, Customs Newspaper reporters went to Coc Nam border gate to record the operation. The operational and customs clearance still normally take place, enterprises continue to transport goods to the border gate and carry out customs procedures.

However, due to the sudden announcement by the Chinese side, enterprises have not transported goods to the border gate yet. So, onthis morning, the quantity of cleared goods is insignificant. Currently, there are five vehicles at Thien Truong Yard and four vehicles in Thang Long Yard carrying fresh jackfruit are transshipped by Chinese vehicles.

Talking to a representative of Coc Nam Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department), the sudden change of plan by the Chinese side due to that the branch has exchanged and discussed with the Chinese side to maintain customs clearance and facilitate import and export activities of enterprises.

Customs News will continue updating this situation to readers.
