Cao Bang Customs Department reports that 107 enterprises registered for customs procedures at the department in August. Import and export activities took place at the border gates: Ta Lung, Tra Linh, Soc Giang (Cao Bang province) and Bac Kan Customs Branch (Bac Kan province). Import and export turnover in the month reached US$ over 41.45 million, down 41% compared to the previous month.

In August, the export turnover of some items plunged compared to the previous month such as: seafood down 25%, cashew nuts down 44%, coffee down 45%, nickel ore down 100%; the import turnover of products sharply dropped such as: coal down 31%, fabrics down 21%, automobiles down 56%...

The decrease in import and export turnover in the month results from the application of strict control measures by Chinese Government on import and export goods; and floods caused landslides on the route for transportation of imports and exports on the Chinese side adjacent to Tra Linh Border Gate...

Although there was a downward trend in August, in the first 8 months of 2024, import and export activities through Cao Bang Customs Department still saw a year-on-year increase of total trade in goods of 43% to US$643.22 million.

The growth in import and export activities is an important factor helping Cao Bang Customs Department hit the revenue target soon. By the end of August, the Department collected VND758.1 billion, reaching 126% of the estimated target for the whole year of 2024. The two branches have contributed the largest revenue as Ta Lung Border Gate Customs Branch and Tra Linh Border Gate Customs Branch.

Notably, Ta Lung Border Gate Customs Branch collected VND656.22 billion, reaching 147% of the estimated target for the whole year, accounting for 86.56% of the total revenue of the entire Department. Tra Linh Border Gate Customs Branch collected VND70.2 billion, reaching 53% of the estimated target for the whole year, accounting for 9.26% of the total revenue of the entire Department.

According to Deputy Director of Cao Bang Customs Department Nguyen The Bang, in addition to the objective factor due to the recovery of import-export activities, the department has made great efforts in performing the revenue collection.

Identifying the revenue collection as the top political task, from the beginning of the year, Cao Bang Customs Department issued Plan 211/KH-HQCB to implement Directive 371 of the General Department of Vietnam Customs on drastic implementation of solutions to facilitate trade, improve the effectiveness of state management, and prevent revenue loss in 2024. The important goal is to strive to hit and exceed the revenue target for the whole year.

Cao Bang Customs Department has directed units to strengthen the prevention of revenue loss through inspection and supervision of customs procedures, tax administration, post-clearance audit, specialized inspection, internal inspection, and the fight against smuggling and trade fraud.

The department has focused on combating frauds in quantity, weight, category, value, code, origin, trademark... to strictly control, promptly detect and prevent illegal transportation, smuggling into the country; import of prohibited goods, goods with counterfeit trademarks, goods infriging intellectual property rights, import of goods inconsistent with customs declaration in terms of category, quantity, value...

The department has reviewed, classified, collected and handled tax debts arising before January 1, and prevented arising new debts...; promoted administrative procedure reform, customs modernization, improved the business environment, enhanced national competitiveness in 2023.
