Binh Duong is a key locality in the southern region that is being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with a high number of infections, with many cases of infection in companies and factories.
Binh Duong Customs Department said, as of August 6, in the province, 1,318 out of 2,027 firms operating import-export activities regularly meeting the conditions "three on-spot", "two locations", “one road” for continued production and business. The remaining 709 businesses had to suspend operations.
However, at present, some import-export enterprises implementing "three on-site" activities have also temporarily suspended operations after detecting many cases of infection. From the above situation, it is forecast that the business production in the area would face many difficulties in the future.
Specifically, there were 251 companies with Covid-19 patients with the number of infected people was 4,073; 519 firms have isolated workers and employees (primary and secondary contact) with more than 39,000 people.
Facing the above situation, Binh Duong Customs Department has implemented many solutions to ensure absolute safety from the pandemic but still create favourable conditions for businesses to quickly clear goods. The application of information technology and modern customs management methods in handling administrative procedures has been made more efficient. All business dossiers are processed through the automatic goods clearance system and the online customs public service system.
For paper documents that need to be submitted in accordance with the regulations, Customs authority has arranged to receive dossiers to ensure compliance with the "5K" regulation, but the number of paper documents to be submitted is very small. At most branches, although there are not many businesses coming to carry out customs procedures, goods are cleared quickly and efficiently.
In addition, Binh Duong Customs Department has worked to grasp information, kept in touch with businesses that have temporarily suspended operations to remove difficulties and problems, provided solutions to support and guide customs branches to implement appropriate and flexible customs management measures to facilitate firms to import and export goods and ensure customs management.
Director of Song Than Customs Branch Huynh Kim Ngoc said it is expected that in August, Tan Cang Song Than ICD will receive a large number of containers of imported goods from businesses in Binh Duong transferred from Cat Lai port. Following the direction of Binh Duong Customs Department, Song Than Customs Branch worked with Tan Cang Song Than ICD Joint Stock Company to develop coordination regulations and implementation as well as prepare solutions, human resources, means of transport and a specialised yard area for receiving containers transshipped from Cat Lai Port and performing quick cargo clearance, complying with regulations, creating favourable conditions for businesses.
