5,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes concealed in styrofoam box

According to An Giang Province Police, on August 9, the anti-smuggling force of the Economic Police Division under An Giang Province Police collaborated with the Road Traffic Police Division to patrol National highway 91. When arriving in the area of Binh Khanh 3 halmet, Binh Khanh ward, Long Xuyen City, An Giang province, the force detected a passenger car with license plate 65M-1281 driven by Lam Phen Che (born 1968 and living at An Phu Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) showed suspect signs so they stopped this vehicle for inspection.
They discovered 5,000 packs of foreign cigarettes of all kinds camouflaged sophisticatedly. The cigarettes were divided into small packages to hide inside styrofoam box and hair shampoo box hidden in different places in the car.
Besides the cigarettes, police also discovered more than a tonne of clothes and many consumer goods without invoices. The total value of the above goods were estimated to be more than VND 214 million.
Lam Phen Che claimed he was hired to transport the cigarettes and many consumer goods from Chau Doc city to Long Xuyen and Can Tho cities.
The competent force has made a record of temporary seizure for vehicles and exhibits. At the same time, continuing to investigate for clarification.
