Recently, wood chip exporters have suffered difficulties in transporting goods and an increase in freight costs due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the export of this item has taken place smoothly. Wood chips are mainly shipped to China and Japan.
The branch’s representative said that wood chips are one of the major commodity groups exported across Vung Ang Seaport. Currently, six enterprises have applied for customs clearance across the seaport. Woodchip manufacturers in Ha Tinh have made efforts to maintain a stable export chain.
The local customs branch has cleared 146,540 tons of woodchips. The figure increased by 36% from a year earlier.
The export turnover rose by 44% year-on-year to US$18.7 million. The revenue contributed to the State budget increased by 37% from a year earlier to VND8.126 billion.
Currently, with the high demand of partners and the stable price, the exporters in the province have actively planned production. Accordingly, the exporters have promoted the purchase of raw materials for the production of wood chips, meeting the needs of partners as well as creating stable jobs for employees.
To support businesses and boost export activities across the area, the branch said that in the near future, it will continue to coordinate and create favorable conditions in customs procedures for woodchip exporters to open declarations, ensuring quick customs clearance.
