The Customs sector has made efforts to facilitate Korean enterprises

VCN - Over the past decade, the General Department of Customs has signed many memorandums of understanding with large business associations and FDI enterprises to help enterprises understand customs regulations and procedures.

This is the comment of Mr. Hong Sun, Chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (KoCham) when talking to reporters of Customs Magazine at the 2024 Customs - Business Forum with the theme: "ten years of developing Customs - Business partnership" jointly organized by Customs Magazine and the Customs Modernization Reform Board on September 10, 2024.

Accordingly, Mr. Hong Sun highly appreciated the progress in the relationship between the General Department of Customs and businesses, especially the close cooperation and active exchanges through regular dialogues. Thereby, the Customs agency has listened to feedback from businesses to improve appropriate policies, processes and procedures.

Mr. Hong Sun stated that Korean businesses feel more comfortable working with Vietnam Customs. Moreover, Vietnam Customs has been making great efforts to improve service quality and invest in facilities to facilitate the operations of businesses, including Korean businesses in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Hong Sun, thanks to the modernization and digital transformation process throughout the industry, many customs procedures have now become simpler and more effective than before.

KoCham Chairman said that although there are still changes in policies and regulations that need to be updated, the authorities, including the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs, have responded promptly and resolved the problems of businesses in a transparent manner.

From this issue, in order for the Customs - Business partnership to improve in the coming time, Mr. Hong Sun mentioned the importance of maintaining and improving the efficiency of the exchange mechanism between the two sides, such as having a hotline between businesses and the Customs agency. This helps to quickly handle arising problems, especially in the context that Korean businesses in Vietnam mainly operate in the manufacturing sector and are heavily dependent on the process of importing raw materials and exporting products.

Proposing improvements related to management and import-export procedures in general, Mr. Hong Sun emphasized the role of high technology. Chairman of KoCham expects relevant agencies, including Vietnam Customs, to strongly apply advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of management and customs clearance of goods. This will not only help reduce difficulties but also create a more transparent and favorable business environment for businesses.

Mr. Hong Sun expressed his belief that with the continuous efforts of Vietnam Customs, in the near future, Korean businesses will continue to be supported more effectively, thereby contributing to promoting the strong development of economic cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.
