Thai Nguyen Customs promotes investment attraction to the province

VCN - After three years of putting the first factory into operation in 2021 in Yen Binh Industrial Park, Thai Nguyen, Trina Solar Group has just been granted an Investment Registration Certificate for a new factory in Thai Nguyen province to increase the total investment poured into the locality to about US$ 1 billion.

The world's leading solar battery manufacturer accelerates investment

Trina Solar Group (China) is a leading company specializing in researching and producing solar panels and providing solar power solutions. The group has 50 branches and exports products to more than 150 countries.

At the working session with leaders of Bac Ninh Customs Department (February 20, 2024), the Group’s representative said that the solar printing factory in Yen Binh Industrial Park (with total investment of US$203 million) has been put into operation in 2021. In 2023, this factory's revenue reached about US$1.1 billion.

The group’s second factory in Yen Binh Industrial Park, specializing in producing silicon bars and monocrystalline silicon panels (investment of US$275 million), has been put into operation at the end of 2023. From September to December 2023, the revenue of this factory reached about US$120 million.

When investing in Thai Nguyen province, Trina Solar has always been supported and facilitated by the local government in expediting project implementation progress in Yen Binh Industrial Park. The Trina Solar Energy Development Factory project has a total investment of US$ 203 million, producing photovoltaic cells (solar batteries) and solar modules, with a production scale of 594,870,000 products/year.

Trina Solar Group continues to pour invest the project in the phase 2 in Thai Nguyen with total investment of US$ 275 million, aiming to produce monocrystalline silicon bars and monocrystalline silicon panels, with a production scale of 643,010,000 products/year, and complete in June 2023.

On February 19, 2024, the Industrial Zones Management Board of Thai Nguyen province awarded the Investment Registration Certificate to Trina Solar Cell Co., Ltd. (Solar Group's third factory in Thai Nguyen) with a total investment of US$454 million and also located in Yen Binh Industrial Park.

This factory producing pulled crystal chip cells is expected to be completed and put into production in the second half of the year. After complete production, the annual output value of the factory is expected to earn US$750 million.

After three years of operation in Vietnam, the world's leading solar battery and renewable energy solution provider has increased the current total investment of its factory located in Thai Nguyen to US$ 932 million and the total output value in 2023 to about US$1.2 billion.

The total output value of factories in the province is expected to reach US$2.195 billion in 2024 and US$ 2.7 billion in 2025.

A representative of Solar Group said that when the third factory comes into operation, it is expected to create jobs for 4,360 workers, including about 3,630 Vietnamese workers, accounting for 83%.

Customs supports the group

In order to attract the large investor to Thai Nguyen, in addition to the local efforts, the Customs has play an important role in this work.

Manager of Thai Nguyen Customs Branch (Bac Ninh Customs Department) Nguyen Dang Chinh said that motivated by the goal of improving the local investment and business environment and implementing the Customs industry’s policies on Customs reform and modernization and trade facilitation, the branch has made great effort to support the business community, including Solar Group's factories.

During the project implementation and production, the branch has supported, facilitated and instructed the group to understand and well comply with regulations. The branch has also removed difficulties for the group.

Mr. LU SONGBO, Import-Export Director of Solar Group said that during operation in Thai Nguyen, the group has been supported and created favorable condition by Bac Ninh Customs Department, especially Thai Nguyen Customs Branch.

Especially, the branch has guided and resolved difficulties for the group so that it has complied well with the law and has been quickly cleared goods. The facilitation by Bac Ninh Customs Department is an important motivation for the Group to decide to soon increase investment in Thai Nguyen.

The group hope that the Customs will continue to accompany and support the group for the stable operation in the near future.
