VCN – On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Customs (September 10, 1945 - September 10, 2024), the Annual Customs-Business Forum 2024 titled “10-year development of Customs-Business Partnership” will be jointly hold by the Customs Magazine and the Customs Reform and Modernization Board on September 10.

Vietnam Customs is one of the earliest established sectors after the country's foundation. On September 10, 1945, 8 days after President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), Interior Minister Vo Nguyen Giap, on behalf of the Provisional Government, signed Decree No. 27/SL establishing the “Tariff and Indirect Tax Services Department”, making the establishment of Vietnam Customs.

Promoting the 79-year tradition of construction and growth, Vietnam Customs has grown and matured in all aspects.

In order to meet requirements of integration and the country's development goals in the new situation, Vietnam Customs has made efforts and determined to build a professional and modern force, on par with the Customs of developed countries in the world.

Motivated by approval of leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the Customs Magazine coordinates with the Customs Reform and Modernization Board to hold the Annual Customs-Business Forum 2024 titled “10-year development of Customs-Business Partnership” with the aim of promoting import-export activities, contributing to the sustainable development of the country and the aspiration of a strong Vietnam by 2045 under the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

The forum includes two sessions:

Session 1: 10-year development of Customs-Business partnership: “Promoting customs reform, facilitating the investment and business environment for enterprises”.

Speakers include: Dinh Ngoc Thang, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs; Dao Duy Tam, Deputy Director of the Customs Control and Supervision Department (the General Department of Vietnam Customs); Do Thanh Quang, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department; Dau Anh Tuan, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Director General of the Legal Department; Yoshihara Toru, Head of the Customs Department, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam- JCCI

Session 2: Strategy for developing Customs-Business partnership in the new period: “Taking the satisfaction of enterprises and investors as the centric approach”.

Speakers include: Nguyen Nhat Kha, Director of the Risk Management Department - the General Department of Vietnam Customs; Dang Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Customs Reform and Modernization Board - the General Department of Vietnam Customs; Bui Ngoc Loi, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Customs Department; Tran Tien Dung, Vice President of Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA); Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy General Secretary of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The forum will provide an opportunity for the leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, leaders of local Customs Departments to give messages on Customs reform, innovation, and modernization in the next period, thereby finding effective solutions to accompany and support the domestic and foreign business community doing business and investing in Vietnam.

This is also an opportunity for relevant agencies to understand and trust in the reform and modernization process of Vietnam Customs in facilitating trade, considering the business community as reliable partners.

In this event, the General Department of Vietnam Customs will announce the Decision and award Certificates of Merit from the Director General of the General Department of Customs to collectives, individuals and organizations with outstanding achievements in 10-year development of the Customs-Business partnership and related parties (2014-2024).
