Tan Son Nhat International Airport to install radiation detection systems

The surveillance systems for radiation detection will be installed in specific areas, including baggage procedure and 2 warehouses of imported goods (TCS and SCSC).
The surveillance systems for radiation detection consist of a monitor, a modern console, combined with a camera system to record when detecting a radioactive source. It is also connected to surveillance systems at Noi Bai Airport and Da Nang Airport under the control at the management center of General Department of Customs. Moreover, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has put in place the process of controlling, detecting and dealing with illegal imported radioactive sources. So that the process will be implemented immediately after installation.
After examining and working with Customs of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Mr. Michael Schrenk, an expert at IAEA, said that they will accelerate investigating surveillance systems and report to IAEA soon in order to install the system in 2016 as well as deploying other future projects for Vietnam Customs.
