Tan Son Nhat Customs ready for APEC Leader’s Week

VCN – On the afternoon of 31 October 2017, reporting to the Deputy General Director of Vietnam Customs Vu Ngoc Anh and working group of the General Department of Vietnam Customs on preparation for welcoming delegations to the APEC Leader’s Week, the leader of Tan Son Nhat international airport Customs Branch said that, the Branch has well prepared for receiving and serving delegations.

The representative of Tan Son Nhat international airport said that the Branch had developed a specific plan for preparation and control of imports and exports, equipment that was temporarily imported for re-export and arrange sufficient officers.

According to Mr. Le Tuan Binh, Deputy Director of Tan Son Nhat international airport, the unit had established a working team to serve the APEC Week. The team was responsible for operating-related works and collaborated with Customs units and other units to provide the best service for the APEC delegations.

The measures aim to control and ensure security and safety for the delegations, guests and leaders and heads of state attending the APEC Leader’s Week 2017. Besides, enhancing management for passengers on exit and entry, imported and exported luggage and means of transport of the delegations; collaborating with relevant agencies to guide and quickly handle Customs procedures for goods, luggage and means of transport on entry and exit of the delegations of APEC 2017; and carrying out temporary import for re-export procedures for goods, means of transport, equipment, special cars and weapon of the countries for security of APEC summit.

At the arrival and departure terminals, Tan Son Nhat international airport Customs Branch has arranged two help desks at the green door to serve APEC delegations and assigned officers good at Customs operations to guide to implement Customs procedures for temporarily imported goods for re-export as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Anh highly appreciated the preparation of Tan Son Nhat airport Customs Branch. He noted that the APEC Leader’s Week from 6 to 11 November 2017 was an important national event with the participation of many delegations and heads of state from 21 APEC economies. During the week, Tan Son Nhat airport would receive many APEC delegations, so that the Customs agency must prepare carefully and ensure the smoothness for entry and exit procedures as well as security and safety. The Deputy Director General also requested that the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and Tan Son Nhat international airport Customs Branch arranged resources, equipment, and machinery to control; assigned standing leaders to handle problems quickly and ensure security and safety for the delegations before, during and after the event.
