Mr. Le Tuan Binh, the Deputy Manager of the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat international airport said that from Christmas to date, the number of tourists entering and exiting Tan Son Nhat international airport was increasing day by day. On average, there have been 16,000 -17,000 immigration passengers per day and there have been up to 19,000-20,000 immigration passengers on peak days.
In order to conduct immigration procedures for such a large number of tourists, the functional forces at Tan Son Nhat international airport have recently held a meeting to collaborate and implement measures during Tet holiday. Currently, at the arrival area, there is a new baggage conveyor system, so there will be a total of 7 baggage conveyor systems serving passengers during Tet holiday.
In the field of Customs, the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat international airport has made plans to conduct procedures for passengers as soon as possible, on the basis of strict management of imported, exported goods and luggage.
Accordingly, the Imported Luggage Procedure Team will open 6 desks at Tan Son Nhat international airport. The number of tourists during the peak days is expected to be very high, doubling the normal days, so the leader of the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat international airport directed the Imported Luggage Procedure Team and the Exported Luggage Procedure Team to collaborate and immediately solve problems arising, creating favourable conditions for passengers on entry or exit.
According to Mr. Le Tuan Binh, this time, it is winter vacation in European countries, so the number of passengers including Vietnamese students studying abroad and Vietnamese officials working in European countries will increase dramatically. In the coming weeks, there will be more overseas Vietnamese citizens coming back for Tet holiday.
Therefore, this year, the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat international airport will continue to support overseas Vietnamese citizens. Accordingly, Customs officers will arrange separate areas for overseas Vietnamese citizens to conduct Customs procedures. The receipt of overseas Vietnamese citizens will be divided into two phases: 1st phase is from 25th December 2016 to 1st February 2017; and 2nd phase is from 1st February 2017 to 15th February 2017. This year, in order to enhance services for overseas Vietnamese citizens, the Communist Youth Union of the Tan Son Nhat Customs Branch has collaborated with the Communist Youth Union of Tan Son Nhat airport and commercial enterprises to support and help disabled people, the elderly, pregnant women and children in the process of Customs procedures, including information on lost luggage or damage.
Along with supporting and facilitating passengers on entry and exit in the process of Customs procedures during Tet holiday, the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat international airport has also focused on the fight against smuggling and commercial fraud. Currently, the operational teams are performing anti-smuggling plans for the duration before, during and after Tet holiday.
Accordingly, the aviation routes, perpetrators and high-risk commodities have been closely monitored in the management system of Customs. Besides, the coordination between the Customs force and other anti-smuggling forces will be promoted with many specific solutions.
