By professional measures in collecting and analyzing information, at 9:00PM on 26/11/2018, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the Anti-Drugs Enforcement Unit - Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department chaired and coordinate with Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch and competent forces to conduct key inspection for luggage of a 28-year-old Malaysian female passenger named SHARINA BINTI MOHDZAINI, came from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) on the flight No. EK392, after crossing Sao Paulo (Brazil).

The inspection results showed that besides personal belongings, the inspection group discovered inside the two check-in baggage of the female passenger has two plastic packs which were pressed into the valise wall. Inside the packs containing white powder suspected of narcotics. Based on the assessment result of the Criminal Science Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police, the above powder samples were cocaine.

A customs official involved in the seizure revealed that the trick of hiding narcotics, in this case, was also very sophisticated, difficult to detect unless without experience and in-depth investigation information. Customs officials had to use the electric drill for dismantling each part of the luggage to remove packs of heroin.

According to the original claim, the subject helped to carry 2 pieces of luggage for a boyfriend from Brazil to Ho Chi Minh City with a payment of $US 1,200, when arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, she was detected and arrested by Customs force.

The Anti-Drug Enforcement Team made a report on the offender for SHARINA BINTI MOHDZAINI about the illegal transportation of narcotic from abroad into Vietnam and handed over the dossier, narcotics and subject to PC04 - Ho Chi Minh City Police to continue investigating and handling in accordance with the law.

Previously, on 28/10/2018, on the same route, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team also arrested a Malaysian woman who illegally transported about 4.1kg cocaine camouflaged in food cans.

Arrest a subject leaving 3 guns

It is not only hot about illegal transportation of illegal drugs, but also the subjects take advantage of the airway to transport illegally prohibited goods such as guns, bullets, and non-official documents… which have been detected and prevent timely during the process of key inspection by Customs authorities. Recently, a 41-year-old male passenger of Vietnamese nationality, live in Hanoi, was arrested by customs authority at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport when he was going on an aeroplane to Hanoi with an accused of transporting illegal weapons.

According to the leader of Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch, this subject entered Viet Nam on the flight VN10 from Paris (France) to Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat border gate. He was monitor and subjected to key inspection by Customs authority right after leaving the plane. Immediately, after completing entry procedures, he noticed the tight control of the customs forces at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, this man left his luggage in order to escape to Hanoi. However, this man was detected and prevent timely by the Customs force.

Through inspecting personal luggage of this object, the customs authorities found that three pistols and 4 cartridge-clips (prohibited items) were hidden inside the luggage along with personal belongings. Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch coordinated with Economic Security Department - Ministry of Public Security, Customs Enforcement Unit - Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department - General Department of Vietnam Customs and Tan Binh District police verified, investigated and arrested the subject immediately after that.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, through the above cases of seizing prohibited goods, it showed that smugglers were very reckless in illegal transportation of prohibited goods. Currently, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has instructed professional units to continue implementing effectively the anti-smuggling and trade fraud schemes in the management area, especially in the period of the time before, during and after Tet holiday in accordance with directives of leaders at all levels in order to detect and prevent timely the violations.
