VCN – The Anti-drug Enforcement Team, Quang Tri Customs Department has cooperated with Dakrong District Police and Quang Tri Police to arrest a suspect for illegal transportation of 10,500 packs of smuggled cigarettes.

Quang Tri Customs seizes 10,500 packs of smuggled cigarettes

The scene of the case.

According to Quang Tri Customs Department, on September 13, the Anti-drug Enforcement Team coordinated with Dakrong District Police to inspect a car with license plate No. 38D-006.58 with suspicious signs but the driver quickly drove away.

After chasing to km 255+559 of Ho Chi Minh road (in Pa Tang village, Dakrong commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri), the enforcement authorities discovered 21 burlap bags of goods left on the roadside.

Through inspection, the authorities discovered that the burlap bags contained 10,500 packs of “SPECIAL BLEND JET” cigarettes, 20 cigarettes/pack.

Infringing cigarettes were left on the roadside.

The enforcement authorities investigated and arrested Mai Van Ph., 42, (residing in Quarter 9, Ward 5, Dong Ha City, Quang Tri) who was the driver of the car.

Initially, Mai Van Ph. Said that the infringing goods were smuggled cigarettes.

The case is investigated by the Dakrong Investigation Police Department.
