Most of illegal sugar transportation cases detected and handled by the Customs force have small quantity. The violations mainly are transporting imported goods without legal documents within the customs control area.

Notably, on April 3, the Customs Control Area arrested Mr. Tran Nhon Dung for transporting imported goods without legal documents in the Customs control area, and seized 2.5 tons of sugar made in Thailand.

On May 3, the team detected and fined Mr. Tran Duc Thu for transporting imported goods without legal documents in the Customs control area, and seized 2.4 tons of sugar made in Thai Lan.

On June 4, the team also seized and made a record of administrative violations against Mr. Nguyen Cuong (address Ka Tang village, Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa, Quang Tri) for act of transporting imported goods without legal documents in the Customs control area, and seized two tons of sugar produced in Thailand.

Quang Tri Customs Department said that the smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across border gate in the Customs control area decrease in the number of cases and value of goods compared to the same period in 2023.

The Customs Enforcement Team has arranged officers in key areas and closely coordinated with relevant units in combating and strengthening risk management, information collection and analysis; improved the quality of risk management; strictly controlled high risk entities, routes, goods and enterprises to effectively arrest.

From the beginning of the year, the department has directed units to closely coordinate with forces such as Police, Border Guard, Market Surveillance in preventing smuggling and trade fraud.

In addition, the department continues to expedite customs modernization and effectively

and efficiently uses equipment and support tools in performing tasks, especially in implementing container inspection and promptly handling violations.
