Prosecute a case of exporting illegally four containers of aluminum scrap

The above shipment consisted of four containers exported by Lam An Company (District 1, HCM City) which opened customs declaration for exporting to South Korea on November 7. The enterprise declared the goods were galvanised round steel pipes with export duty rate of 0 percent. The shipment was cleared in the green channel by the system.

However, when detecting signs of suspicion, the Customs Control and Supervision Team - Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch coordinated with the Export Cargo Customs Procedure Team, Customs Enforcement Team - Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department to conduct a physical inspection and discovered all four containers were aluminum scrap containers with export tax of 22 percent.

Through inspection results of Vinacontrol Inspection Company, it showed the goods were aluminum scrap and it was packed into bricks. Along with that, Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch determined the value of the above export shipment was VND 2.8 billion, meaning tax fraud was in excess of VND 620 million.
