Propose to extend customs clearance time across La Lay International Border Gate

The committee has proposed the Government Committee of Salavan province (Laos) to agree to change the working hours at the border gate pair from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m, including holidays and weekends.
Special cases will be processed procedures across the border gate pair anytime and anywhere. Currently, the working hours at the border gate pair is until 7:00 p.m.
According to Quang Tri province, the law enforcement forces of the two provinces in the La Lay International Border Gate have coordinated closely, creating favorable conditions for immigration, import and export activities of people and businesses on both sides.
The trade investment cooperation across La Lay - La Lay International Border Gate pair increasingly makes positive changes; the flow of people, vehicles and goods across the border gate pair improves, especially the import and export of coal from Laos to Vietnam.
In the first quarter of 2024, La Lay Border Gate Customs Branch (Quang Tri Customs Department) processed procedures for 20,361 vehicles entering and exiting, up 2.66%; 52,829 passengers entering and exiting, up 25.69%; 556 import and export declarations, up 7.54% with the trade in goods of US$50.359 million, up 41.88%; 415,442 tons of imports and exports, up 53.01% year-on-year.
